The Saints come back to score some unanswered points and finished the game with a 17-17 tie. The rest of the game was like kissing your sister, too. At QB, Shough had a solid game but so did Rattler.

Next week the Saints play the Broncos in the Superdome for a noon Saturday kickoff to the final pre-season game of the season.

• Kamara, Miller, Edwards-Helaire, and Jones is a versatile RB room.

• Ruiz needs to be benched. The line is going to be an issue.

• Because of the line, Rattler needs to start. He handles the rush much better than Shough.

• Jonas Sanker, Fadil Diggs, and Jaylan Ford are flashing a lot of potential.

• Would really like to see two, possession receivers brought in via free agency or trade.

Ruiz benched, that's for sure.

I wonder if your boy Torricelli is going to replace Ruiz?
The Saints, it seems, want offensive linemen who will knock one opposing defensive lineman to the ground and then proceed to hunt another on the same play — as Simpkins did against the Chargers. The Saints want linemen who shove the oncoming rusher to the dirt, even if it means getting down and dirty himself, as Simpkins did on a block to protect Tyler Shough. The Saints, it seems, want players who “want blood on every play” — a phrase Yahoo Sports’ Nice Tice used to describe Simpkins.

Kendra Miller trying to make the team.

Agreed on the OL. Our guards are trash right now.

Haleaux's Tortellini had one penalty today. Not sure about the rest of his play. We need to pick up some of the OL discards at league cutdown.

Entire draft class makes the team. LBer Stutsman showed his speed again today.

One more week to determine QB starter. Edge goes to the Bayou Rattler right now.

Team depth will be a liability … again.

And yeah, Ruiz shouldn’t be starting in this league.

That was a huge contract extension mistake.

Is Ruiz going to be another veteran bum on the payroll?
Now he can't stop a floating balloon.

Which might not be a good thing. Unless Rattler proves to be very good QB to start the season, the calls for Shough will start early and the team might be split between the two QB's.

Re: Observations from Saints Jaguars Preseason Game

I wouldn’t rush Shough. We all know his ceiling is high, but given his injury history (and no, that doesn’t make him injury prone; that’s a misread of what happened), he still needs some refinement before he’s at the level we want. Midseason would be the right time to give him a shot, but I wouldn’t start him right away.

Let Rattler start the season. He deserves a chance to prove himself with a new coach. I'm still very high on Shough, though.
