Thoughts on Saints loss to the Cardinals

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Contemplation of what could have been fills everyone's minds. Why Juwan Johnson, why couldn't you catch the ball when going to the ground?...

Re: Thoughts on Saints loss to the Cardinals

Some dumb playcalling, fundamental stuff hopefully just rookie coaching jitters.
Penalties
I've never been sold on Grupe
I hate it but I don't think Olave is going to be in the league much longer. I definitely don't see him lasting the session. Sucks because he hasn't come close to his ceiling and its not really his fault.

We showed guts and resilience even though it didn't pan out in the end.
Missed tackles and dropped balls are fixable
We were in it till the end in spite of playing a worse game than Arizona.
Good to see Jordon getting sacks
I got a BJ.

Re: Thoughts on Saints loss to the Cardinals

• Team showed heart.
• Juwan Johnson always sells in the big moments.
• I too, never liked Grupe.
• We need another cornerback.
• Sent a pick for a 6'4" receiver that wasn't even on the field when we could have used him the most.
• Playcalling was iffy at times on both sides of the ball.
• Redzone playcalling continues to be an issue.
• Running game looked good. Hate we had to go away from it and play catch up.
• Cam Jordan has life.
• Still whiffing tackles and giving up 3rd down conversions.

All in all, I'd give it until week 4. If there 0-4, blow this **** up and start collecting as many picks as you can.

Olave
Kamara
Jordan
Davis

Consider moving them. Go full rebuild.

Re: Thoughts on Saints loss to the Cardinals

Rattler takes too long to play well. If he played most of the game like he does at the end, we'd maybe have broken the 20 point limit for the first time since last November.

Juwan is stealing a pay check, whenever we rely on him to make a game deciding play, he fails.

Kool-Aid ain't that guy, got absolutely torched all day.

Defensive tackling was atrocious, so many 3rd and long conversions because the linebackers and safeties couldn't tackle.

Kellen not calling the timeouts at the end of the first half was idiotic.

Rattler could have had 4 picks today if the Cardinals defense could catch.

That was the most winnable game this September, buckle up guys, it's going to be ugly.

Seattle's and 9ers defense are fast, they'll destroy this offense

Re: Thoughts on Saints loss to the Cardinals

All of the aforementioned has merit. Still we must exercise patience as CKM's young team unfolds and learns to play his system. That includes Rattler who seemed better than his AZ competitor, but alas merely for a glimpse. Vele should be used more as TE, kinda like what AZ did with their 3TE system showing chunk plays up the middle. The whole team needs improvement, obviously overall. Still we didn't get blown out or even look close to the worst team in football vying for the overall #1 pick. I view this game as a missed opportunity to get out of the gate with a win whilst the opponent had little clue what to expect from us. Yes, we should have also stuck with the run a bit more and with a bit more creativity. Was Young's injury more costly than anticipated on the DL?

Congrasts for Cam Jordan achieving 123 career sacks.
