RE: Breaking/Upsetting News
IF NOT THE SAINTS, THEN THE JAGS?
At a time when the NFL is eyeing the Saints for the vacuously vacant L.A. market, it appears that there's another candidate to load up the truck and move to Beverleeee. According to The Florida Times-Union, the Jaguars could be leaving Jacksonville. On Tuesday, the city notified the team that it would not be permitted to operate its electronic signage at Saturday's Georgia-Florida game. In response, Jags vice president Bill Prescott says that the move could force, well, a move. "Based on their actions today, yes [the Jaguars will be forced to move],'' Prescott said. "Based on the actions I've seen over the last week, yes. Obviously, if they're taking revenues away, it'll happen sooner rather than later. . . . "If you're cutting off our revenue source, any reasonable person would sit here and say, 'What are they trying to tell you?'" Prescott said. "They're trying to tell you to move.'' So after 10 years of no team in Los Angeles, we could now have a situation in which the Saints and the Jags are jostling for the spot. And we suspect that some Saints fans will greet the news by clamoring for the Jags to move to New Orleans and become the new Saints. |

RE: Breaking/Upsetting News
I am Jack's suprise.
This is why I questioned the fact that the owner was allowed to be on the New Orleans' NFL Committee. That might answer your question from a week or two ago, Tally Saint. Personal feelings aside, would you trade the players that we currently have for the entire Jacksonville roster? I have grown attached to several of our players, but that would be a hard deal to pass up. |

Every team within reach of a deadline to strick a deal with there city is and has used this tactic of "If we don't get a good deal we are moving to LA" Vikings were on that list last year. Chargers are still on it as well.

RE: Breaking/Upsetting News
I've said it before, the Chargers are not going anywhere. The city loves their team. As far as taking the Jacksonville roster, I wouldn't object. Sure, I would miss Horn and Deuce, but Horn is aging and won't be around forever. Also, Deuce just had an injury that can potentially ruin his career. He might never be able to run like he used to.
As far as the other players go, we can trade for some. However, I would be pretty pleased if we got rid of this organization. No matter how much I'll miss the players, the organization needs personnel adjustments. By the way, my father proposed something interesting. Why not give Archie Manning an Offensive Coordinating job? Maybe that is a little too much, but I imagine he would be a tremendous quarterback coach. Look what he did as a player. Attribute that to the fact that he taught two of his sons to be NFL quarterbacks (obviously with one son smashing records and the other one to do it in the near future), and you'd wonder why no one has thought of this sooner. |

RE: Breaking/Upsetting News
Archie has flat out said he was not interested in any coaching position. He has his hands full. Besides can you imagine how difficult it is to have to beat not one but 2 of your sons... I say we have a better chance at going ahead and drafting one of his grandsons this draft as a future investment, lol.

I am not saying SD is going to be moving, I am saying that comes up a lot around here in San Diego when they talk of a new stadium deal its a tactic that is used in negociations.

RE: Breaking/Upsetting News
Read the whole story. Yahoo only put a "spin" on a "spin" here. The whole story talks about how they want to work with New Orleans to see how things work out in the coming years (2 to 3 years) and if things progress and their is growth then they will stay. If they can't fill the Dome, no talk of renovations or new stadium, no time table, then the NFL will take the Saints out. Benson's statement said the same.
Looks like we are going to get what we want, a chance to prove ourselves. |
