Let me give an everyday explanation. Say you are at the grocery store looking for a parking spot. You spot a close one and race towards it. Another car is racing towards it as well, and they get halfway in the spot before you get there. Do you A) ram them even though they are already there, or B) go to the empty spot that just opened up right across the aisle?
