I know who I can Blame now...
I am not sure if I have enough words to complete this with out cussing.
In August of 1972 a New Orleans Saints, and LSU Tigers fan was born. Years went by like they always do. The child was given an Archie Manning Jersey and wore it everywhere, at times, being forced to take it off so it could be washed. Then the child makes his pilgramage to his Mecca, the SuperDome. Walks the field where his Sunday Heros walk feeling that at that moment he is apart of the team. Those days where great. As the years kept passing on into teen years, we find our fan sitting on the couch with his father watching another game slip away. With his father yelling cuss words at the television, our fan has realized his team may not be as good as he thinks. The years to come would prove so. Our fan reaches his twenties. He has almost made it through the Mora years. Not all with bad memories. Seen one of his Tigers become a Saint, seen a defense that was feared, and a home state QB, and a trip to the playoffs, but still no SuperBowl. One day while watching a game with his father he notices he is the only one yelling at the television. He looks at his father and says, "Can you believe that?!?!?!". His father gives no reply of emotion and says, "Typical Saints Football Son." Now in his thirties, our fan, after thirty-three years of heartbreak, heartache, faithful and fateful devotion, looks for who is to blame for this curse of Saintsdom. Why, does he let every single loss, INT, fumble, mental retardation of cheering for an organization that only seems to deliver pain, stay in his life? Because he is under the delusion they will prove him wrong and win. This is my short story, I feel many of your lives have been the same. We constsantly look for who to blame for all of this. I now know who to blame...I blame my father. He was the one who infected me with Saintsitis. There is only one cure for Saintsitis......but the mental retardation that goes hand in hand with Saintsitis won't let me. Just in case you want to know what the cure is.......just give up on them. All of our time spent from the late '60's to '05 the Saints have given us just three playoff games. What a way to sum up four decades. I see guys who say "Keep the Faith", Faith is all we have ever had fellas. |
