Brooks is Done after season

BROOKS IS DONE

In a move that likely is coming at least one year too late, we're told that the Saints plan to part ways after the season with quarterback Aaron Brooks.

Brooks became an instant star in the Bayou five years ago, after starter Jeff Blake suffered a broken leg. The former Virginia Cavalier, in only his second NFL season, led the Saints to the playoffs and engineered the first (and only) postseason win in club history. Brooks then staved off a healthy Blake in 2001 for the starting job.

Since then, however, Blake has yet to fulfill the promise of his debut season. His passer rating never has been higher than 88.5, and he currently is at 66.5 through nine games in 2005. His career mark is below 80.

Although I am for this move, I think taking anything PFT has to say too seriously is a mistake. As some wise man here once said (maybe Tobias), they are the national enquirer of football journalism.

Also, the Falcons have one of the best backups in the league and this article just ignores that fact. Assuming Schaub doesn't fly the coop for a starting job, they don't need a backup.

(How bout Schaub straight up for AB?) Never happen.

I'll see it when I believe it, or something to that effect.

I guess it was you, then. (LOE/Halo came to mind as well.) I would hate for you to take credit for someone else's wit and get sued for plagiarism

But, ever since that "enquirer" comment was made, I have noticed that every time anyone references PFT, it's usually the "i'll believe it when I see it" story. I haven't done any reverse fact checking to find out if they have ever been the first ones to break a legit story.

You know like "Alien flies out of AB's ass.....AB quoted as saying he is a great QB with an average alien in his ass"
