I was wondering when somebody would speak out for Deuce. It is true, The OL was not opening holes for him and he was at least averaging 75 yards a game!!! Last year he was out for 2 games and limited for 2 or 3 more, so that averages to about 12 games played last year and 1074 yards. 90 yards a game average? How the hell do you think he got to be the All-Time Saints rusher in a little over 3 years full time rushing. Give him a break people.

Agreed give Deuce a break...The O-Line was not there for the first part of the seson...I want to see what he does next year though...And you have to wonder, If we finish ahead in the draft of Arizona what could we get for Deuce like a couple more picks and a player or two...Oh yeah and we still take Bush...Can you imagine the pass-run attack of A-Mac, Bush, Horn, Stallworth, and Henderson....Remember also that Smith is not young in fact I remember an interview at the begining of the season when he said he doubted he would play next year....don't get me wrong I think he could play next year and well, but does he want to play..Has anyone heard if that has changed...Right now I still say Keep Deuce

I like Duece. But he is not the same player he was. He does not run as hard, always seeming to hesitate before he hits the hole. Stecker and Smith run harder and have better results with the same line. I don't think the line play is any different. It's decisive, hard running that has made the difference. I think Duece is most like Shaun Alexander in terms of size and speed, but Alexander is getting better and Duece isn't. And now a major knee injury. I hate to say it but Duece's best years are behind him. Saints have to plan for a future without him...
