But we also would have gotten a second round pick. i.e Odell Thurman, Kevin Burnett, Corey Webster, Lofa Tatupu, Mike Nugent, Bryant McFadden. I mean it would have sucked if he got hurt and had to retire, but we would have gotten another player with their second round pick as well. As it stands, we may now end up getting absolutely nothing for Howard this offseason.

Lofa Tatupu
Honestly, who here thought this guy would go any higher than the 4th round? I drafted him in my keeper league, BUT ONLY because I trusted Holmgren's opinion on this guy. I've never heard Mike gush over a player like he did Lofa.
Seems to be paying off now, he's my most productive rookie.

I didn't think he would go high, cause of his size. I thought they would try to make him a safety like Michael Boulware. But I knew the kid was a football player. Maybe we need to draft more of those, like Big Willie Style. Straight football players. F the 40 times, F the size. Guys who make plays on the field. That was Lofa. I saw a lot of him at USC last year, and that kid was a natural linebacker. He is paying off big time. But no, I never thought he would go in the second round.

saintswhodi,

You assume the FO would have been so brave or smart to pick any of those you listed. I faill to see the imagination or expertise in the FO to pick such a player(s).

Likewise, even if the FO had picked such a player...there is little evidence he would have excelled on the field with the Saints. Leadership starts at the top and I regret the opinion but, the Saints have little or NONE!

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over, over, and over again...and expecting a different outcome!

Yes, but at least we would have had said player for the new coaches.

I mean, whenever Haslett is finally gone, I will be happy to have Deuce(if healthy), Grant, Will Smith, Jamaal Brown, LeCharles, Bullocks, Colby, Fincher, Stinchcomb, A-Mac, Stallworth, Devery, for them to work with. With a sprinkling of FAs. That's not all bad. Add one of those other poss players we could have drafted.......It's all imagination anyway though. But we have drafted some good players to go with the scrubs, right now we don't have the coaches for them to reach their potential. It's still good to have them rather than not have them though.

Colby sucks, did you see him get blown up a couple times last night? He's not strong enough and he falls backwards when he tackles. This guy should be on the scout team. I'm actually glad to have McKinnon on the team

I don't think Colby necessarily sucks, but I do think he is not being coached up as well as he could be. That kid is always in the play, when not blocked out of it. Strength can be improved, but bad habits that aren't corrected can't. Not saying Colby is great or anything, or that he will be, but I do think he could be more productive with better coaching.
