RE: Commish Visits New Orleans - Some Positive News
Even though we suck really really hard, it's always good to hear a little something positive. Maybe all that stuff about the city rebuilding even stronger might be true with a little bit of added attention and care by city businesses and leaders.

But uptown is buzzing and so is the French Quarter, and the Dome has a repaired roof and they even re-painted it, pretty much looks the same to me.
New Orleans East, the 9th ward, Chalmette, and Lakeview took it the worst. Of those I see Lakeview coming back and faster than the rest. The 9th ward and the East are a total loss, and even if they did come back who would repopulate those areas? Right now New Orleans is safer than I've seen it before, there's just no crime on the streets at all. People and businesses are coming back, that's probably what Mr. Benson and the commish saw. It was the small businesses, local merchants and retailers, that got hit the hardest. |
