A Disillusioned Fan's Observations from the Game

1. DeAngelo Hall might be the dirtiest, worst sportsmanship, cheap-shotting/kicking player in the NFL. I absolutely hate this guy. I have never hoped for a player to get hurt until I've seen this guy play a few games. He was the one who started the fight before the game in Week 1 vs. the Eagles, but he didn't get punished for it (he actually threw and landed a punch). Everytime he is in on a play, he's kicking them after the whistle, shoving somebody (Jamaal Brown tonight), or piling on. I really hope this guy suffers a broken vertebrae or something and spends the rest of his life watching from the sidelines.

2. The offense looked sharp in the first half. They did a good job mixing run with pass, and that showed by gaining over 100 yards rushing and passing in the first half. In the second half, they got flat, and threw it way too much,

3. Defense played pretty good in the first half, and pretty much awful in the second half.

4. The play-calling was AWFUL, especially in the second half. I counted numerous times when on third and long, we were throwing passes four or five yards short of the first down marker. Haslett and the rest of these coaches are idiots. Also, the penalties were awful as usual, somewhere in the vicinity of ten I believe.

5. Ronald McKinnon, although slow and not very agile, is a total stud, especially in the run defense department. He plays with so much energy and always seems to be around the ball.

6. Of course, AB is awful. I could just hear him thinking during the game when he took the safety, "Hmmmm, should I try and throw it to a receiver? No, I'll just take a sack for a safety. Hey Aaron, did you hear the one about the pope, the priest..... hahaha (chuckle chuckle)." He makes so many poor throws and decisions that he ultimately cancels out all of his good passes. He also might have some of the worst mechanics I've ever seen. All of his throws are off of his back foot. Sometimes you need to do that, but he's making out routes that are supposed to be sharp passes off of his back foot. He needs to go. I hope what Mort said before the game is true and that he'll be gone next season.

A-freaking-men....don't forget...he was the guy who got the phantom call on Hakim in the first game that took a TD off the board. If you watch the pregame of the philly game, he ripped trotter's helmet off, spiked it on the ground....and went on to be the playerof the game.

As for the rest of your post, I agree with it all.

One thing that drives me nuts (playcalling) is on 3rd and 2, we don't even line up in a run look so we can work PA, we just vacate the backfield and let them know the pass is coming.

The other thing is that AB looks to the check down guy 80% of the time. I know the O line allowed some jailbreaks tonite....they are not beyond reproach. But, AB does not see the field. If you are defending this guy, you don't understand football.

Very sad tonite....I hate the falcons so bad and i had one of the worst days I've had in months even before the saints took the field. Did ya'll notice the staands? Those Atl fans ran to the hills when there was a 13 point lead. God, I hate the Atl fans.

Anyway....boo-hoo. We suck and ourncoach looks like he's been on a crank bender. (I saw his nose in HD tonite....WOW.)

I've been away from the forum for a while, and I have only seen the two prime time games this year. But boy, what a downtrodden-looking bunch. The team is obviously demoralized. You can tell they have the talent to make plays and win games, but they just aren't mentally there. You see a few flashes of brilliance sprinkled in among long stretches of incompetence. There's no focus and no fire. Yeah, I know it's been a rough year, but that's not the reason. These are the same issues the team has had for years, and like Belichick says, adversity is part of the NFL. The teams that win are the ones who can adapt and overcome. What this team needs is some leaders. The owner isn't going to do it, the coach can't do it, and none of the players seem to be able to motivate each other either. It makes me wish I were a fan of another team. I just don't see any hope for the future until there is a new owner, a new coach, and a new quarterback, or at least a new quarterback. Ugh.

Random observations from the game:

-Hilton needs to line up as a wideout or get off the field. He doesn't even try to block. The only two times I saw him in a blocking situation, he was standing around watching his man tackle the ball carrier. Not that he's too tall--he's not even trying.

-McKinnon might be OK, but the main thing I noticed about him was that he was completely frozen when Vick threw a short ball right past him to a wide open Warrick Dunn that went for a long gain. That could have been his one blunder of the night, but I wasn't impressed.

MY OBSERVATION WAS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME. BUT THE OL LOOKED REALLY BAD, WORSE THAN EVER. NO LONG PASS ATTEMPTS, AND OTHER THAN W. SMITH OUR DEFENDERS WERE TERRIBLE.

I agree with the playcalling. Throwing 3 or 4 yard passes when you need 7 or 8 for the first. AB could have avoided the sack and that just goes to show you he doesn't care cuz he's getting paid and he is Hasletts pet. So both will be gone at the same time.

OL wasn't that bad on Monday. They did give up some jail breaks, but they also opened up big holes for the running game and the passing game in the first half. In the second half, AB's crap took over and he didn't throw the ball in time. And AB sucks, that's probably why we don't have any long pass attempts. Did you see that stat they showed? In 2001 or 2000 he had a passer rating of around 120 on passes over 30 yards. This year it's 5! FIVE. CINCO. A five passer rating is absolutely horrible. No wonder we don't throw it deep, he can't do it. The stat also showed that his deep ball passer rating has been steadily declining ever since 2000/2001. This guy is getting worse. The defense played well in the first half I thought, and poorly in the second half. And yes, Will Smith is a total STUD.

p.s.- Typing in all caps is usually used only for shouting or an added emphasis. (i.e. if Samuel L. Jackson was a poster here, he would type in all caps). Just so you know. Welcome aboard tho
