Haslett wants to know........
From NFL.COM:
Haslett wants to know status soon NFL.com wire reports SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 14, 2005) -- Jim Haslett said he hasn't discussed whether he will return as coach of the New Orleans Saints next season. He added he would like to know his contract status before the end of this season. Haslett was asked about a report by the NFL Network that he's planning to resign at the end of this season and had recently asked owner Tom Benson to fire him. "I haven't talked to Mr. Benson about any of that at all," Haslett said. "I haven't talked about those possibilities yet. I would like to know something before the end of the season. But that's up to him." This has been a frustrating season for Haslett, who is coaching a team that was displaced from its home by Hurricane Katrina before the season began. It has been based in San Antonio, but has been displaced several times from its practice facilities, and the players and coaches have had to spend part of the time finding places to settle. The Saints also have split home games between San Antonio and Baton Rouge and played their first "home" game against the New York Giants at the Giants' stadium. On Dec. 14, the NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed to pay $40,000 to each player who has been on the roster for the entire season and $2,350 per week to players who have been with the team for less than the full season. The payments will come from a performance-based pay clause in the collective bargaining agreement. A statement said the payments came because "the Saints played the 2005 season under unanticipated conditions that included residences and practice facilities, personal and family travel between homes in New Orleans and San Antonio and home games in three different stadiums." On the field, the season began with an upset win at Carolina. But the Saints lost the next week to the Giants and currently are 3-10, buried deep in last place in the NFC South. The NFL Network report said Haslett, who is in his sixth season as the team's coach, is worn out by the adversity, both on and off the field. http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/NO/9096821 Why should we tell him now. Let't find someone else behind his back then fire him the night before the draft....mooooohhhhhaaaaaaaa. We don't owe this SOB ****!!!!! |
