Darren Howard also 86'd for rest of the season!
Lost in all the excitement of the Brook's demotion is the news that Darren Howard will be inactive for the rest of the season. Haslett also stated that Howard is probably done in New Orleans. Just another example of the shrewd player management our FO is known for. A year ago we could have gotten something of value for Howard. Now we couldn't trade his ass for a case of beer to make the sight of Bouman in the starting lineup tolerable. At least with Bouman starting we should have no problem locking up a top 3 pick. Hopefully next up on the chopping block, John Carney.

The positive of this situation is that Will Smith will no longer be on the bench. Thankfully, he had been logging more and more snaps as the season went on. He is by far our best defensive player right now. Smith should be a pro-bowler for years to come. If only we could get Grant back on track, we might actually have that feared defensive end combo we've been hearing about all year.

RE: Darren Howard also 86
And someone please tell me again, so I can make sure I cry it all out at one time, how many different teams wanted Howard in the offseason???? 2, 3, 4, 5??

What a Front Office we have
|
RE: Darren Howard also 86
Hell the first misconception is that we have a Front Office. Most of those guys have never come out of the outhouse long enough to tell if the sun is up or not.

RE: Darren Howard also 86
Excellent point
|
RE: Darren Howard also 86
FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS PAST OFFSEASON THE FRONTOFFICE WANTED A MIDDLE TO EARLY FIRST ROUND PICK FOR HOWARD. SEVERAL OFFERS CAME FROM LATE FIRST ROUND PICKS WHICH THEY TURNED DOWN. NOW THEY'LL HAVE TO WORK FAST AND DEAL HIM SO THEY WON'T HAVE TO FRANCHISE HIM AGAIN.

RE: Darren Howard also 86
The boat on "what they could have gotten" for Howard has passed......As someone said earlier, if we get a case of beer and mabye a pizza for him we should count our blessings.
|
RE: Darren Howard also 86
we can get 3 pizzas for one low price at dominoes

Any GM that assesses talent based upon the Katrina factor Saints is a complete loon . Talent evaluation for players on the out will have to be judged by last season ..... Howard will draw interest , just not from the Saints . Someone refresh my memory here , is Howard the one who went after Brooks on the plane ???? |
RE: Re: RE: Darren Howard also 86
I thought Dominoes had a 5 for 5 deal. Man, I need to step away from the chiva, needs to be more give in my puff, puff, give.

RE: Re: RE: Darren Howard also 86
no its the 5,5,5 deal 3 pizzas fo 5 bucks
|
RE: Re: RE: Darren Howard also 86
Oh shiiiittttt. Maybe that's why the pizza delivery guy was running and yelling, "it's only three pizza's sir" as I was pulling my foot out of his butt.

RE: Re: RE: Darren Howard also 86
We got Howard with what, the number 33 pick? He'll draw some interest. We'll get a second rounder for him, that is, if we have him under contract.
But the possibilities here are EXCITING. Add to the above a new head coach, a new quarterback, a new (hopefully) defensive coordinator, an increased salary cap, a bonus for playing in N.O. post-Katrina, and a high draft order..... This is real hope. Did I just SAY that? I can't believe I just said that. But I haven't been this excited since 2001. |
RE: Re: RE: Darren Howard also 86
i know im excited... and its just cuz brooks is benched... haz leaving would be bonus

I'm pretty certain that it was Charles Grant that went to stomp on Brooks. Wonder what stopped him?
|
It was Charles Grant, but that was after the Arizona game LAST YEAR.
