Darren Howard also 86'd for rest of the season!
Lost in all the excitement of the Brook's demotion is the news that Darren Howard will be inactive for the rest of the season. Haslett also stated that Howard is probably done in New Orleans. Just another example of the shrewd player management our FO is known for. A year ago we could have gotten something of value for Howard. Now we couldn't trade his ass for a case of beer to make the sight of Bouman in the starting lineup tolerable. At least with Bouman starting we should have no problem locking up a top 3 pick. Hopefully next up on the chopping block, John Carney.

The positive of this situation is that Will Smith will no longer be on the bench. Thankfully, he had been logging more and more snaps as the season went on. He is by far our best defensive player right now. Smith should be a pro-bowler for years to come. If only we could get Grant back on track, we might actually have that feared defensive end combo we've been hearing about all year.

FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS PAST OFFSEASON THE FRONTOFFICE WANTED A MIDDLE TO EARLY FIRST ROUND PICK FOR HOWARD. SEVERAL OFFERS CAME FROM LATE FIRST ROUND PICKS WHICH THEY TURNED DOWN. NOW THEY'LL HAVE TO WORK FAST AND DEAL HIM SO THEY WON'T HAVE TO FRANCHISE HIM AGAIN.
