Why Bouman now? Hm. Well, there's no argument we want to -try- to get something (anything) for Brooks, so we can't afford him getting injured. But why Bouman over A-Mac? I'm not sure. I'd play A-Mac now.... but guesses are following:
1) A-Mac isn't ready physically? Don't want to get him hurt before he's ready for testing? 2) A-Mac doesn't know the playbook yet? 3) Bouman is expendable, saving A-Mac for next year? 4) Bouman looks better than A-Mac? (I find this one hard to believe, unless A-Mac doesn't even know the playbook yet. Even then, I still find it hard to believe.) Whatever the answer is, I think the rest of this season is going to look like preseason games. I suspect talent evaluation will be the theme for the remaining games. |

Besides, for most of the first half this week AB only threw 9 yard hooks. I'm sure McPherson could at least manage that. Or put a few option plays in with McPherson and Stecker. Were I the front office about now, I'd sure like to know whether my first draft pick was either going to be used to draft a QB or traded to San Diego for Rivers. We just can't know that without seeing what McPherson can do against some real defenses. At worst case, we give our opponents a heavy dose of Smith and the power running game, McPherson should be able to manage some hand-offs at least. |
