We can not franchise Howard, cause more than likely we will have to franchise LeCharles to get him to stay. I am nit certain on the ins and outs of the transition tag, but if it givesus his rights, we could work out a contract with him that meets the approval of whatever teams wants to trade for him, like the Bronos did when they traded Portis. The bottom line is though, we should have dumped him last year, and now we are in a tight spot.

We also can not trade him before the contract runs out. Trade deadline prevents that. At the end of the season(after the super and pro bowls), he will be a FA.

Good call, whodi. No sense in trying to franchise him anyways. With his history of injuries and lack of production this season, we wouldn't get much for him. No one in their right mind would pay him in the top 5 DE average. Just let him walk on out the door with Brooks, Haslett, and countless others in tow.

Well I don't about just letting him walk out. If we could trade him for a draft pick or two, how would that be worse?

The trading deadline has passed...no way to trade him....after the season is over, he'll be a free agent anyways....the Saints will get absolutely nothing for him....that's why he walks.
