I take great comfort in the long history that MANY coaches and teams have been enticed by some QB that could do nothing but ruin them. I have great confidence that teams could be enticed by a 3000 yard passer with no injury concerns.
I have to believe that the Heath Schuler trade could happen again in our favor. The way I see it Brooks would be perfect with the Raiders. I can't see Al Davis NOT wanting him and being willing to give us a 2nd or better for him. If Billick survives this year in Baltimore, they might be willing to deal for a real security blanket if the Boller experiment doesn't work out. If Herm Edwards survives, he has to have a sure thing. If Denny Green gets another year in the desert, he needs consistent production and he has a great history with second chance qbs. The way I see it, all of these teams would be relatively happy with an 8-8 record and Brooks could help them with that. There is always someone crazy enough or desperate enough or egotistical enough to think that nothing is broken with Brooks that they can't fix. In my dream scenario, Jim Haslett could go to Buffalo and orchestrate the Bills dealing their whole draft for Brooks. I just hope Santa is lurking...... |
