this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't get it. I hear some of you guys getting all hyped about being in a position to draft Leinart, as if he's a cure all for our beloved 'Aints. But Leinart can be the second coming of John ...

Draft Hype

I don't get it. I hear some of you guys getting all hyped about being in a position to draft Leinart, as if he's a cure all for our beloved 'Aints. But Leinart can be the second coming of John Elway and it won't meant spit if you: a) don't have a coach with vision to lead the team, and b) an owner who will (or can afford to) get up off the scratch to pay the high price tag talent like his will demand. That a a host of other problems seem higher priority than taking a possible Crouch or Leaf in the first round.

Or is it we're just trying to think positive about ANYTHING this season at this point? Clue me. I'm lost. But then again, I'm a Saints fan...

RE: Draft Hype

Actually I think the Saints are one of the highest paid teams in the NFL if I'm not mistaken. I don't know if anyone else can elaborate on that. But you're right about the coach, our coaching staff has ruined Brooks and others, and our owner really doesn't want to be here.

I would state it like this, why be exited when you have an owner who is willing to wait next season out, split the season around, until he can officially sabotage efforts to sell tickets for the remaining games in the Dome next year so he can make his case to move to San Antonio.

"Divide it up, you know how much I like San Antonio," Benson said Saturday after the Saints closed their three-game Alamodome schedule with a 13-12 loss to Detroit before an announced crowd of 63,747.

Benson is expected to make his case for playing games in the Alamodome next season and perhaps beyond when he meets this week with NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue in San Antonio.

And hey we know now how much he likes Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Sorry guys, I just can't look past this issue. They can get as many number one picks as they want, but frankly until we get this team out of his hands I think they are gone one way or another. If we fill the Dome, he will demand a new stadium which we cannot afford. It's very sad.
