Brooks- what do you think?
I think Brooks will do well this year. Last year he was worn down by the end of the year, I mean the guy was getting sacked and rushed regularly and it looks like the Saints told him not to scramble. He had a great year in 2000 and with the talent he has at WR, more than just Horn, look for him to open it up. Of course all of this depends on Mike McCarthy.

Brooks- what do you think?
Brooks is not the quarterback of the future and will have only an average year - if we are lucky.

how can you say that. see my posting. the guy IS the QB of the future. he has the talent in all facets of the game. check out his stats. last year you had Willie \"do i want to show up to this game\" Jackson, Albert \"whos pocket can i pick\" Connell and a couple other nobody\'s for Aaron to throw to. All the kid had was Horn and he was double teamed so bad he couldnt get out of his own way. and the running game was pathetic. Ricky should have just went back to doing his interviews with his helmet on. and then the line, dont get me started. Willie \"granpa wheres the food\" Roaf who couldnt get out of the way of Jabba the Hut along with a whole slew of Malcontents who didnt want to play there anymore. we have a fresh line led by Kyle the animal Turley, Bryan Cox and believe it or not Jake Reed. we have Kick Butt receivers to compliment Horn and guys that can blow holes in a defensive line big enough to drive a truck through for McCallister. until you have some football knowledge and do some homework dont say that Aaron Brooks isnt the QB of the future. I can statistically blow that theory out of the water all day long. Can you tell i LOVE this team. I feel like a mother bear protecting her Cubs |

I disagree, Gumbo. I do think that Aaron Brooks has what it takes to be a great quarterback in this league. If you read the article on the index page of this site, it talks about how Mike Mc is changing the offense up for this season to put less restrictions on AB. I Think this is a great idea. Look for Aaron to be runnin\' and gunnin\' in the new scheme. I think we\'ll see an Aaron that resembles himself more from 2000, passing for 441 yards in one game and then rushing for 108 the next. When you have a \"New Generation\" Quarterback like Aaron is (cannon-like arm, running ability) trying to mold him into a pocket passer is like signing your own death warrent.
PS, Saintnut, Bryan Cox is a linebacker, he has nothing to do with Aaron Brooks or the offense in general, just thought you might want to know. |

I\'m kind of on the bubble on this one. I think Brooks has awesome potential but I would rather hold judgement until the season starts. Guess I\'m just so used to getting excited and pumped about the Saints only to have my hopes dashed in the end. But I\'ll NEVER give up on them. That said, I think this season will tell whether or not Aaron is the man. With all the new weapons he should have everything he needs for a serious breakout season to become one to the top QB\'s in the league. Barring injury to him or the other major players we should see if 2000 was a fluke or not. Can\'t wait.

I don\'t know about Brooks. I think that Blake as a much better QB, if for no other reason than his experience and that it was a BIG mistake to put Brooks in as a starter last year. He could have used another year (or three) under a veterans wing before being put out as a starter. Since he hasn\'t got that kind of opportunity now, I think that he will mature a year or two later than he would have, but that he will eventually be a good QB. (HOPEFULLY this year, but I doubt it.) All in all, Brooks is an OK QB...nothing to write home about...yet, at least.

saints scott. Another year under blakes wing? I think AB is a good QB now and will become a Great QB this year. Last year I think the coaches told him not to run. Without the escape route of running he made bad decisions that led to costly turnovers. I think the coaches learned from that last year. The o-line is much improved and with out eight in the box waiting on Ricky the rush will be off of him more this year. AB will have an outstanding year. With the weak schedule the last 9 weeks of the season you can count on the Saints being the first team to win the NFC South division, and take them as far as AB\'S arm will take them in the playoffs. Any true Saints fan knows there has never been even close to this much talent on the offensive side of the ball EVER. It will be exciting.

Yeah...I think that another year under Blake\'s wing would have done AB a world of good. I agree with you that he was directed to stay put, don\'t run, etc...but man alive, he couldn\'t do anything last year. In the box he was so squirmy that he looked like a 5 year old that has to pee stuck in a 45 minute line at disney world. Absolutely NO composure and other teams saw it each week, either in tapes or while they were in his face.
In any case, I\'m with you and the rest of us Saints fans in hoping that he is improved this year...I am afraid, though, that we\'re going to be missing a running back (or two) and that the weight of pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, will be too much for AB to carry. |
