You Make The 2nd Pick
okay, who know's with this front office what could happen with the first pick. My dream would have the #1, trade out, add a 2006 2nd or 2007 1st and still get leinart.
let's suppose they do score leinart or even vince young one way or another. who to take with the 2nd round at pick 33 to 37 approximately? i think LB's hawk, greenway, brooks, and probably hodge (iowa) will be gone by then. if any were there it would be great to see a real bigtime LB taken. but let's pencil them all gone. who? LB's worth that pick might include D'Qwell Jackson, Maryland, Thomas Howard, UTEP, or Bobby Carpenter, Ohio St. The one I would choose at this point though isn't prototypical but a heckuva player loaded with intangibles. Check out my #2 pick, Demeco Ryans from Alabama: Strengths: Very smart and fundamental player that makes very few mistakes on the field. Very aggressive. Solid tackler. Team leader on and off the field. Weaknesses: Doesn't have great speed. Will need to add weight to play at the next level. Comments: Ryans isn't the biggest or the fastest player on the field but he makes up for it by playing smart and playing harder than anyone on the field. Despite not not having the measurables of a star linebacker there is no doubt he will do what is needed to succeed at the next level. ----- DeMeco Ryans is a very intelligent linebacker who does a good job of reading and reacting to what the offense is doing. He possesses the athleticism you look for in a linebacker, has good change of direction ability and can make plays sideline to sideline. His speed allows him to effectively cover most tight ends and running backs coming out of the backfield. He has the ability to get into the backfield and chase the running back down from behind. DeMeco is always quick to get to the football due to his quick first step and the fact that he takes good angles to the ballcarrier. He displays good overall technique and is a fundamentally sound tackler. To have the same kind of success at the next level, DeMeco may need to bulk up some and increase his strength. Increasing his strength should improve his ability to shed blockers. In college he ran around too many blocks. He needs to be stronger at the point of attack in the NFL. DeMeco is an excellent football player and a high character guy as well. He should easily be a first day pick with the potential to move into the first round with good workouts. |

as long as we get leinart, we don't need any lb's. qbing has been the problem with this team not linebacking. leinart will be able to hide any and all defensive shortcomings.

Linebacker has been a HUGE problem on defense....so has defensive tackle. I don't know how highly he's been rated, but I would like to see Kyle Williams from LSU drafted. He could plug some holes in that porous run game.

Whoever is the best defensive player available besides DE at our pick i'd say take. We need upgrades.

I think you take the best available unless it's a DE. There is no other position besides DE that doesn't need an upgrade.
