this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If the saints are able to move up which player would you pick? 1. Marcus Trufant 2. Dewayne Robertson I would choose Dewayne Robertson. His presence alone will help our rushing and pass defense. This guy will be double team ...

1. Marcus Trufant 2. Dewayne Robertson I would choose Dewayne Robertson. His presence alone will help our rushing and pass defense. This guy will be double team and that will leave our DE in favorable position to get to the QB. Also he will keep the offense line off our LB, so they should be able to stop the run. |

I say Trufant... b/c realistically they can make a small move to get Trufant, but will need a big move to get Robertson. I like a shutdown corner. There are a whole lot of DTs in the draft. A second rounder... or even going after a FA like Gilbert Brown, Santana Dotson, Daryl Gardner, Darius Holland, Chester McGlockton... I just don\'t see the Saints spending the money to move up enough to take Robertson... if that\'s the case, I\'d rather get a shutdown CB like Trufant and a top LB. Go after a DT in round two, or sign a FA like McGlockton.

Trade up only if it does\'nt cost us our second first rounder. That said, I would love to see Robertson
but we\'ll more than damn lucky to see that. I\'m not sure Trufant is worth tradeing up for. Woolfolk will most probable be avaible where we are. He is taller and faster than trufant, he is rawer having only played the position 1 year. With two vets in Ambrose and Carter we can afford to bring along an tall fast upstart who may turn out to be better. That leaves our other pick to get a LB we so desperately need. We might even be able to trade down a few spots, pick up another pick and still get E.J. Henderson. He is not the sexy pick with gawdy 40 times like champs lil bro but this guy is always around the ball, makes big plays and hits like a truck. |

How about taking Boss Bailey in the first. If you can move up a few places to get him. Don\'t forget, Brother Champ is a free agent next year. Sure sounds good to me to have them both in Black and Gold.

OK, let\'s put it this way: If they came at the same price (draft picks and money-wise) I would go for Robertson. Realistically they only have to get the chance to get Trufant at a reasonable price, so that gives him a slight edge. But if the Saints move up and both are still there, I hope they\'ll opt for the player with the most chances to make an immediate impact.

What is it about Trufant that you don\'t think he\'d make an immediate impact? Is it because he\'s 5-11? Ran a 4.42 40? 35\" vert? He\'s great with his hands? Can mirror recievers movements? Has the ability to judge how routes are being run? Great open field tackling? I ask because I\'m curious...

cloner got it right, Robertson without a doubt if the price was the same, which it could be, a lot of teams have Kennedy above Robertson, so he could fall to later half of the top ten picks where Trufant is expected to go

OK, here are my thoughts, Robertson will definately not be available to a spot the Saints organization could get for a reasonable price because Robertson\'s stock is rising at a very high pace. He is one of the hottest topics in the draft at this point in time and will probably go in the top 6. I think it is well established that no player is worth TWO first round picks so we should definately only trade up if it does not cost us our second first rounder. With that said we nab trufant and get a solid LB being Boss Bailey with our other pick and with our second rounder (providing we still have it) take a powerful DT. the reason i say we wait to get the DT later is b/c there is sooo much depth at the position in this years draft, and i believe any of the top 5 DT\'s could provide an instant impact and one of those DT\'s SHOULd slip to the second round, whereas there are only TWO corners worth our money and picks to trade up for. What do u think????(this is my FIRST post)
