blah blah blah... my house was wiped out too so dont even think that i dont know anything about it...........LSU also housed a morgue in the PMAC and several of the players familys n friends lost houses and everything as well as having to house most of them while fema or whoever was lookin for them a place to stay....

and TN wasnt really pathetic at the start of the year... they only got pathetic after several key injuries and QB contros........

sarge06 01-08-2006 06:53 PM

As much as I hate the PAC 10 they were alot better than the Big 1 this year. They both suck in my book though

OK Im done I have had my fill of taking up for USC. I hate those B*****Ds. I just feel that , even though I cant stand him, Linehart is the best pick.
so if young were to stay n extra year.. win another NC.. throw for 4 k yards n run for another K.. u would still rather draft Leinert this year?!?!?

sarge06 01-08-2006 06:58 PM

Thats alot of ifs?

Milians 01-08-2006 07:12 PM

LSU blew their chances this year, face it. They beat Miami in a bowl game, big deal. Miami lost to Georgia tech a few weeks before. Tech was like the fifth place team in the ACC. Losing to Tennessee in BR after building a 21 point lead is ridiculous. I agree with you that LSU should be in the thick of the national title race next year. With all that talent, they should win the SEC with no problem. Storm or no storm, there are no excuses for losing.

Milians 01-08-2006 07:20 PM

The original point of the Perrilloux comment was that if he would've gone to Texas he would have a national championship ring and a probable starting QB job next year with Vince Young going pro. That sounds a lot better than running third string at LSU.

jegirouard 01-08-2006 07:33 PM

who?

but there has to be a reason he's 3rd string. and not just because flynn played great against miami. i doubt he stays 3rd string next year.

hey shonboy, how about sinorice moss as your playmaking wr

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 07:42 PM

jegirouard welcome aboard. Where are all of these new people coming from?

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 07:44 PM

Not saying that's a bad thing, just omygod Saints fans coming out of the woodwork.

Milians 01-08-2006 07:50 PM

He'll probably move up next year, might even become the starter.Point is, he would have to be pretty damn impressive to pass up Russell and Flynn. LSU has one of, if not the deepest depth charts at QB in the nation. Either Russell or Flynn would start at most other colleges. If Perrilloux is half as good as the hype preceding him, he will be a combination of the other two. Texas's QB depth chart, as is most of the nation, is weak when compared to LSU. Matt Nordgen would not pose much of a threat to anyone, much less Perrilloux. Other than the QB position, both teams are pretty much equal as far as talent goes. Wouldn't you rather have a NC ring and a starting job in Austin than be third string in BR? I know I would.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 07:52 PM

and here is a updated mock that has us taking Young.

Welcome to VIP Sports Edge's 2006 NFL Mock Draft. We take this process seriously, most recently finishing 10th in accuracy out of 112 mock drafts. That includes the big boys like ESPN's Mel Kiper and the SportingNews "War Room".

UPDATED 1/6/06

1) Houston: Reggie Bush, RB, USC (6-0, 200)

Houston needs an offensive lineman to keep David Carr upright, and they already have Domanick Davis, but you can’t pass up one of the highest ranked prospects of the last decade. Bush reminds a lot of people of a young Marshall Faulk in terms of speed and elusiveness, but Bush has more size. He is the clear cut number one pick in the draft.

2) New Orleans: Vince Young, QB, Texas (6-5, 233)

Aaron Brooks is a free agent, and he is not likely to return. Young may need to sit for a year, but the Texas quarterback would be a big draw after winning the national championship. Young is a junior candidate who has really improved his passing skills over the last 12 months. At 6’5 and 230 pounds, he has the size and the running skills of a young Randall Cunningham.

3) Tennessee: Matt Leinart, QB, USC (6-5, 225)

The long term future of Steve McNair is in question, and backup Billy Volek is not the answer. Coach Jeff Fisher would love to add a player mature enough to start right away. Leinart passed up an opportunity to be a top five pick in last year’s draft. His character and leadership abilities are unquestionable, but he does lack elite arm strength for the next level.

4) NY Jets: D’Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia (6-5, 295)

Given Chad Pennington’s injury situation, the Jets would have to consider Leinart if he slipped down to them. Getting an offensive tackle who grades this high is also a very solid choice. Ferguson is a franchise left tackle who was considered the best at his position after last season. He has started for Virginia since his freshman season, and relies on quickness and technique.

Now's the time for some good discussions since so much is going on. It's only gonna get better as we get closer to the draft.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 07:57 PM

Your right Milians, I can't wait for the draft this year. I am more excited about they draft then the superbowl.

Milians 01-08-2006 08:01 PM

I hear you bro. The draft is always my favorite time of the year. It is a time for hope. When all teams are equal. Everyone is 0-0. Finally, the saints SHOULD be major players come draft day.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 08:03 PM

and if we trade down just 2 spots with Tennesse then the Jets we will still get hawk and probably at least 4 more picks in the draft and hopefully a couple of second rounders.

papz 01-08-2006 08:04 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan P. redshirt another year. I doubt Flynn moves down in the depth chart and I would find it hard to believe Russell dropping from 1st on the depth chart to 3rd. Unless someone decides to transfer, Ryan P. is stuck redshirting another year... and I don't see a problem with that at all. Prior to this season, Young was still evolving as a qb and no one knew he was going to be this good in 05-06. I think his decision to go to LSU rather than UT was with the impression that Young was in fact going to return for his senior season. Who knew he was going to blow up big time this year... he did and Ryan's stuck. There's nothing wrong with waiting your turn.

One more thing... Leinart will be a Saint! So please, let's spell our quarterback's name right! I have a feeling someone is going to show up to a game with "Lionheart" on the back of their jersey. :P

Milians 01-08-2006 08:07 PM

I am chompin at the bit. The next four months are gonna be rough. I keep checking every draft site I can find for some new info. Wed is the best day for info since Kiper has a live chat on espn.com every week.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 08:08 PM

Lionheart I really liked that movie.

Milians 01-08-2006 08:09 PM

Hey Papz, you can only redshirt one year. The only exception is for injury.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 08:09 PM

I also don't think that Leinart is a slam dunk either. See I listen to ya, I got the name right.

:airguitar:

sarge06 01-08-2006 08:11 PM

I feel like an idiot I knew something didnt look right when I was typing his name.

You can onle get one redshirt unless there is a medical reason

sarge06 01-08-2006 08:12 PM

sorry millians didnt see your post, kinda repeated what you said.

Milians 01-08-2006 08:15 PM

Word. No biggie

papz 01-08-2006 08:15 PM

Thanks for the info... wasn't aware of that.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 08:16 PM

Hell almost everyone had it wrong and it doesn't matter how you smell it, I mean spell it we need to trade DOWN, DOWN, DOWN!!!!!

papz 01-08-2006 08:18 PM

I like the idea of trading down for more picks... if we don't trade out of the top 5. If not, welcome Matt. Get it? Welcome Matt? Crap I think it's time for me to go to sleep.

Milians 01-08-2006 08:19 PM

I think we should stay at number 2 and pick one of the QB's. The draft is very deep at LB. One of the top ones should be available in the 2nd round.

sarge06 01-08-2006 08:21 PM

Hell Im so confused now I dont know what I want.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 08:25 PM

Step away from the computer Sarge and get some sleep.

:computer2:

sarge06 01-08-2006 08:27 PM

I think that I may do that. You guys take it easy. Talk to ya after another lovely day of work.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 08:28 PM

Lovely day at work? Do you work with a bunch of hot women or a bouncer at a high class strip club?

sarge06 01-08-2006 08:30 PM

No I'm a National Guard Recruiter. Business is not exactly booming.

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 08:55 PM

Hey you must have signed everyone up already.

sarge06 01-08-2006 08:57 PM

Yeah thats it

pakowitz 01-08-2006 09:53 PM

ive been clammoring about wanting VY but i want to see how these guys perform at the combines.... and their Individual workouts....

deucerulez 01-08-2006 10:37 PM

i dont know which, but we gotta go for a QB, unless trading down gets us 3 or 4 playas

CheramieIII 01-08-2006 11:32 PM

Depends on how far down we go. I would not go any further than four if we want Hawk.

Milians 01-09-2006 09:54 AM

As good as Hawk is, we can't pass on the opportunity to take a franchise QB. No matter how bad the saints suck, we never seem to pick higher than 13th in the draft. This is that rare season where the wheels completely fell off. All things being equal, you have to pick a potential franchise QB over a LB. QB's simply have more of an impact on the game than LB's do. Granted, Hawk's impact will probably be felt long before either of the QB's, the QB's are a better pick in the long run. If we were one player away on D, I could see us taking Hawk. Fact is, we need a couple of LB's, a monster DT, and some DB help. Let's see what they do in free agency.
