Here in Austin Vince has said numorous times that he will be happy to play for who ever drafts him. He said he is just happy to be in the situation he is in. His momma was on ESPN radio saying the same thing, and she was screaming, "We gettin paid!! Momma gettin a new Escalade!!!"

I believe either QB would be a welcome addition to the team over Brooks, but when it comes down to it, one glaring statistic remains: In 39 years, a predominantly running QB has never won a Super Bowl. The closest one to do it was Steve Young (1), but by most accounts, he was still considered a pocket passer, especially at that point in his career.

Scouting Reports

It appears that Lienart could start the first year, where Young needs a couple of years on the sidelines learning. I think we need someone who can step in immediately in the worst way. If Loomis and the new HC have the wherewithall to draft a QB first then I think Lienart is the best choice. Alot will depend on who is selected as the HC. |
Just about all of the NFL scouts are saying the same thing about Vince Young: Raw talent & athleticism. They say Young will need a while in the NFL to be ready & that he will be a work in progress. Sounds alot like Aaron Brooks to me. I don't know about you guys, but I've seen about all the work in progress QB I want to see in Black & Gold.
Leinart, however, while not having the elite QB arm (but still stronger than V. Young), is a proven winner. He comes from an NFL type system & his mechanics are great. He reads defenses well & while not being a great scrambler, moves well in the pocket to avoid pressure. While I like Vince Young's leadership, etc.., Leinart is the better NFL ready QB. Draft Leinart & Bobby Carpenter & get us a coach (w/ a whole new staff) who wants to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
First, grest post Deuce. i don't see how it can be any clearer.
Second, Leinart and bobby Carpenter. Good QB, good LB. Both can start from day one. Where is the problem? |
Vince will have to learn a totaly new offensive scheme too. He wont be able to run that option read or whatever they call it that Texas is running. It has to be Lienart or trade down. Young may surprise but is it a chance we can afford to take.
|
I think maybe it is a chance that we can't afford not to take. You have got to have a strong field general and you would have that in Lienart. Given the past Brooks will never be the "MAN" with the Saints in the future.
