Defense Wins It Again
Did anyone who wants an QB at #1 see how the defensive AGAIN won the games for Seattle and Denver? Make an offense one sided and you will win. Came true again saturday. Lets see what happens today.

RE: Defense Wins It Again
Hagan I agree with ya but some of the members feel that the QB's are winning these games or should I say offense? The Line is blurry for me now!

RE: Defense Wins It Again
defense did win those games and there is no legitamite argument against that. a franchise qb would help our already good defense along very nicely.

RE: Defense Wins It Again
true it would keep them off the field. so you guys think with a QB and some good tweeks on the OL will be good enough to get a winning season

RE: Defense Wins It Again
i am going back to what i have said non-stop since beiung here. i may not always make excellent points but this one is the truth no matter what. you start with both your defensive and offensive lines. if they can dominate you can win the game. that is just how i feel and i don't think it can be argued at all

RE: Defense Wins It Again
Can't really argue with that... games are won in the trenches. Defense wins champsionships, but that still doesn't change the fact I wouldn't mind seeing Leinart in a Saints uniform. That's just the way it is... you really can't pass up on a chance at selecting a franchise type quarterback.
I think Hasselbach had a lot to do with Seattle winning that game... not just the defense. |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
yeah he had a good game. he has had a good season

RE: Defense Wins It Again
And Big Ben had a lot to do with the win at Indy.
Don't get me wrong CHer, or anybody else for that matter, I do believe that an ENTIRE defense that is really good can make the difference. However, the Saints don't have a good foundation to have a good ENTIRE defense. We could select some defensive players in this draft, and we could improve from 14th to top ten, MAYBE. But if our offense is still turning the ball over the most times in the NFL, it doesn't matter how damn good our defense is. Would Pittsburgh have won without its defense? Probably not. BUT, would they have won if Big Ben hadn't played very well? Probably not. What I'm saying is, building your entire defense up can improve your defense a lot and help you win a lot of games. But you also have to realize that DRAFTING ONE PLAYER ON OFFENSE (QB), COULD MOVE OUR OFFENSE UP 15 TO 20 SPOTS IN THE OFFENSIVE RANKINGS. Like I said before, it's all about balance. Rarely do you see teams like the 2000 Ravens who can win the Super Bowl with NO offense and ALL defense. YOu have to have a good mixture of both. Right now the Saints have a pretty good defense and an AWFUL offense. If we drafted a QB, and then used the rest of the picks to address defense, we could have a GOOD offense and a really good defense too. |

RE: Defense Wins It Again
I have been saying for awhile now that getting a QB in here is going to do nothing for us unless we build our line and D. We seriously need to trade down and get D and O-line help. So many people think Leinart is the answer but we will simply be right where we are, not in the playoffs. If you wanna QB then Young or trade down.
