Chicago Tribune selections
Not sure what they are basing this on but the Chicago Tribune is reporting the following . . .
Mangini gets Jets job Patriots defensive coordinator Eric Mangini accepted the Jets' offer to become their new head coach, ESPN.com reported. Mangini, who becomes the youngest head coach in the NFL at 34 (he turns 35 Thursday), and the Jets were finalizing the deal late Monday. An official announcement is expected Tuesday. Front-runners for other open coaching slots: TexansGary Kubiak, Denver offensive coordinator. RamsKevin Linehan, Miami offensive coordinator. LionsRod Marinelli, Tampa Bay assistant head coach and defensive line coach. BillsJim Haslett, fired New Orleans coach. SaintsMaurice Carthon, Cleveland offensive coordinator. RaidersJim Fassel, Baltimore offensive coordinator http://chicagosports.chicagotribune....ck=1&cset=true Carthon would be another selection that would not give me heartburn as I consider other posts relative to Payton or Sherman as plausiable. |

RE: Chicago Tribune selections
As much as I wanted Sherman, I would take Payton over Carthon any day of the week. Of the candidates interviewed, I think Carthon would be, by far, the worst hire we could make (which means Benson will probably hire him).

RE: Chicago Tribune selections
This report couldn't even get SCOTT Linehan's name right.
