Official change of stance on Leinart - DRAFT HIM!!!!
..with the specter of one Aaron Brooks staying in NO hanging over our heads like a piano tied up with dental floss, I'm officially changing my tune to GET Leinart.
He may not beat TB's or Carolina's defense, but he sure can beat Mr Great in training camp!!!! |
RE: Official change of stance on Leinart - DRAFT HIM!!!!
We will draft him, and he will beat TB and Carolina.
Welcome to the right side.... the force is s trong with this one :lightsabres: |

you are the tortoise, my friend.
as is your rank. :P |
RE: Official change of stance on Leinart - DRAFT HIM!!!!
i'm still JEDI Supreme. Master yoda's master, and brooks will be the starter for 2006 with a improved coaching staff, improved defense. superbowl with aaron brooks as mvp.
who's your daddy now?? call me master winwin. |
RE: Official change of stance on Leinart - DRAFT HIM!!!!
There is no way we keep AB and if we do he will only be a backup and have to restructure his contract. I still don't think we need to draft Leinart but if we do we better win next year and the Saints better stay in New Orleans or everyone that supports us drafting Leinart at this point will never, ever, ever hear the end of it.

I'm not going to be totally rigid and be like "Leinart better be good if we get him". That's not totally fair. Now if it turns out that they turned down a great deal and instead decided to draft Leinart, then I would be upset. |

you may not be, but i will because of the outcry for him. the 24/7 days a week for 4 years of every thing going wrong being brooks's fault. lienfart will get no freebees. |

Hey GT, I wasn't saying that I would take it out on Leinart because I know as we speak it is going to take him 2 to 3 years to develop into the QB some people think he will be next year. I will not let the people that think that now live it down. That's what I was saying.

RE: Re: RE: Official change of stance on Leinart - DRAFT HIM
If we take Leinart he'll know what Brokeback Moutain is all about, getting rapped by Defenses as our line is horrible and getting worse.

Bringing in a couple of FA is ok but you're not going to get veterans who are in there prime or tail end of their careers to come to a team with a unproven NFL QB that will take time to develop. We need major help on the lines before we should address the QB position. Build a OL and DL and it won't matter who you have at QB, DENVER, PITT, SEATTLE, CAROLINA... wait did I just mention the final four teams in the playoffs, damn.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Official change of stance on Leinart - D
No matter what the QB situation has to be addressed. I agree that the OL and DL are definite needs but QB is right there too. We have Brooks, who is finished here. We have Bouman who is a lifetime back up, and AMac who is a couple years away from contributing by all reports. I think we would have a harder time attracting FA's to come here and block for any of our QBs than for a rookie QB. We either need to get a QB through FA, like David Gerrard, or draft one, simple as that.
Denver, Pitt, Seattle, Carolina. You just named two teams with QBs picked in the top 15 picks in the draft. Hasselbeck and Delhomme also are bright QBs who make good decisions. None of our current QBs compare to them in the least. |

Neither of the QBs you mention have lines and D like us... they wouldn't be in the playoffs if behind our line. Trading down is the best way to go. Hell draft a QB in later rounds but we have to address the lines first.

I'm really high on Jacobs. I think his stock will rise. I see him as a Leftwich clone. The big knock is the system he played in. Which is the same as Alex Smith did last year.
