this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Any ideas of who Payton could bring with him from dallas? Most of the dallas fan postings i have read are happy to see him go by the way....

RE: Dallas FA?
FREE-AGENT UPDATE:
TE Dan Campbell (an unrestricted free agent will be resigned) WOULD BE GOOD AS A BACKUP TO HILTON S Lynn Scott (unrestricted, will not return) NO S Tony Dixon (unrestricted, will not return) NO LB Scott Fujita (unrestricted, will get offer to return) NO C Andre Gurode (unrestricted, will get offer but will likely get more money and a better opportunity with another team) IF WE LOSE BENTLEY LB Eric Ogbogu (unrestricted, will not return) NO LB Mike Barrow (unrestricted, will not return) MAYBE LB Quinton Caver (unrestricted, not a high priority) NO FEELING A DRAFT: The Cowboys have the 18th pick in the first round. At the top of their wish list is an offensive tackle. But the Cowboys don't have a history of drafting offensive linemen in the first round. Will they change in 2006? Other priorities include linebacker, safety and wide receiver. MEDICAL WATCH: LB Al Singleton (hernia) should return by the start of the off-season program. T Flozell Adams (knee) should be ready to return by the start of minicamps. LB Dat Nguyen (neck) will likely retire. |

Saints | Payton could bring some coaches with him to New Orleans
Tue, 17 Jan 2006 19:26:56 -0800 Jean-Jacques Taylor, of the Dallas Morning News, reports soon-to-be named New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton could bring some Dallas Cowboys assistant coaches to New Orleans with him. Payton has spoken to the Cowboys about allowing linebackers coach Gary Gibbs and offensive line coach and running game coordinator Tony Sparano to join him in New Orleans as coordinators. Each is under contract with the Cowboys, who do not have to let them leave even if the new jobs represent promotions. http://www.kffl.com/hotw/ I posted this yesterday. |

IF WE LOSE BENTLEY how much do you think he will get on the open market? He definitly knows Payton, and if the OL coach comes that would help greatly in the new system. Ferguson, Holland,Gurode,Bentley,Brown Sounds good to me dump merryberry, and Gandy. the dollars may add up to sign Holland also to a long term deal also. Just need a TE that can do both, block and catch. Add anotherWR that has hands and I bet a good Veteran QB would really consider coming here. Or AB wont be as worried in the pocket. Even Carney would be smiling with the thought of blocking a LB instead of a lineman (ours or thiers) hell of a selling point |
