this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I for one don't think Leinart or Young can start next season and be successful but that doesn't mean that they won't get the start, hopefully we can have a veteran QB to hang around for a season, could that ...

I for one don't think Leinart or Young can start next season and be successful but that doesn't mean that they won't get the start, hopefully we can have a veteran QB to hang around for a season, could that QB be Brooks?, we shall soon see.

RE: Leinart would be ready to join Saints if drafted by them
With Payton's hiring as head coach, you can ALMOST bank on Leinart or Young being drafted by the Saints. Forget all that talk about trading down for more picks to get Hawk or anyone else. New coach is going to want a QB. IMO, Leinart fits the mold better than Young for Payton's style. Look at his 3 QB's that passed for over 3,000 yards: Carter, Testeverde, and Bledsoe. Pocket passers. Leinart should be a Saints come April, but stranger things have happened.

RE: Leinart would be ready to join Saints if drafted by them
All this talk about Leinart's post game comments. Did anyone watch Young's? This guy walked around screaming "Who's the real Heismann?" taunting USC fans. Also, it takes a big man after a defeat to go into the other team's locker room & congratulate them the way Matt Leinart did. And he's "classless"? Look, being an LSU fan, it's hard to like Leinart, but the guy is a class act. So what if he doesn't like losing. We need that in a QB on this roster.
By the way, the comments Leinart made about his defense in that game were true. He only candy-coated it. That defense stunk up the joint!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

With his bum knee and mild concussions he has sustained how long will he last behind the Saints line before going Merrle Hodge? What player or agent for that matter would tip there hat with draft day so far out, and risk moving down the boards?

If we were to go QB with the early pick I would take Young but its not the best way to go because it doesn't matter who is at QB we suck. I think Young has the better chance at being succsessfull in NO than Leinart. I'd much rather trade down and build out line and D.

i wouldn't mind Matt at all, although i would Rather Vince. One point is that Vince won't be able to start right away due to Mechanics and we run other formation than the Shotgun in the NFL. Vince long-term would be a bettter pick, but who want to wait to win?

notice how now, the defense is from other people involving a different qb. a qb, the leader of his team never calls out his teammates are a certain section of his team publicly. you don't point the finger in public regardless of fault... how about scoring more points than your opponent, whatever happened to that? wasn't that the outcry for all the weapons at brooks's disposal? the turnover lienfart had, just like brooks...more weapons on offense than the other team saints/ versus anybody, usc/ versus texas. |

LOL- same lame arguments, BoB. It's like you're not even trying anymore.
Lienart loses to Texas, and manages to still score twice as many points per game than Brooks. |
