Payton is expected to replace most, if not all, of the Saints' previous coaching staff. Former defensive coordinator Rick Venturi, former offensive coordinator Mike Sheppard and former running backs coach Johnny Roland were not retained.

At least three incumbent Saints assistants -- special teams coordinator Al Everest, secondary coach Willy Robinson and defensive line coach John Pease -- were scheduled to meet with Payton early this week.
