Sammy Knight

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't know, but I can tell you one thing. Sammy Knight was leagues above Jay Bellamy....

Sammy Knight was traded because of Michael Vick's speed. They wanted someone who could catch him.

I am extremely pro Sammy. The main problem with him is that he is slow; this reduces our number of coverage options. With McKenzie here that may not be as big a problem. However, once teams figured out they could go over Sammy's head, he became much less threatening to teams. I'd be happy to see him return as a "Oldham" style safety - vetran leadership and only a dime safety.

As for Bullocks, the kid wasn't projected to start this year. He came in, and while I agree he made some rookie mistakes, he looked pretty good to me. He gives us way more coverage options. In cover three, we could choose which guys to drop, rather than having it decided for us. Also, it allows the corners to gamble more in cover two, with a fast guy back there. Bullocks is the future of our SS position (though I suspect it will be a LS position instead).

Holy shizzle... JKool...

Only problem with that is I'm pretty sure he feels as if he still has a lot of offer. I rather not mess with Bullocks development. And with Gleason, Mitchell, Bullocks, Smith, and Bellamy, we really don't have a need for another safety. I rather carry an extra corner for coverage purposes of course... rather than a run stopping type of safety.
