WHO DO THE SAINTS CUT, RELEASE, OR TRADE IN OFFSEASON

HEY GUYS,

I know it is way to early, but who do you guys think the Saints will get rid of. I have to believe some of the OL with bad contracts will be let go.

I agree....we need to improve the OL. If there is one thing that is for certain....a good OL always equals success. Let go of Howard and Brooks for some serious cap room and start pickin up some good FA's

Of course, resigning Bentley is the highest priority. But, the market for free agent OL is usually thin. We need to develop through the draft.

This year has several good OTs. It was posted on some other thread, but there is plenty of OT talent this year, I'm not sure about OG, though. I think QB, LB, DT, OL, CB are our priorities in that order. Just my opinion though. I think once our offense gets a little continuity, and they STAY HEALTHY (which was a big problem for them this last season) they will be what everybody like SI thought they were going to be: dominant. The fact is, they didn't play with each other enough to really get comfortable. I think that position will be fine. Especially wiht the maturation of Jamaal Brown, the return of Stinchcomb who was very impressive last offseason, and the good health of the others (Bentley, Mayberry, Holland, Jacox).

2LB K C LT TE CB QB RB is my order. Line backing core needs to be addressed and I thinkk will in draft and free agency, a run stopping DT mixed in with the good line we have now would serve a world of good. Our Kicker Sucks and takes points off the board just by being dressed at game time. 40 Yarders become punts. To many games lost by D and Kicking game for two strait years.
While I admitt th play of the offense was miserable and yes at qurterback it was miserable also, I think this year was not truly a fair shake. Since Bently moved to Center there have been more false starts and botched excanges and he is better suited for Guard. The guy is a beast and can open holes, and is a probowler so move him back and get a center. Gandy needs to go. Mayberry if not cut should be returned to backup duty. I can't remember the last blocking tight end this team had?

Quarterback mistakes can be kept in check with a good running game. That has been lacking the past two years. The running game was dominant in 2000 trough 2003 and the play of the quaterback was better(minus the airballs that hit the ground at the feet of the line), primarily due to second and third and shorts.

This team cold win and does have the talent to do so, but lacked dicipline, scheme and this year motivation.
My opinion feel free to cut up.

I hate to say this because it might not be popular but I don't see Horn playing next year with the Saints.

Agreed. Both his mouth and his age have become too big a liability

What are the chances Arrington becomes available? That's one serious LB

Not sure but Reggi Wayne will become a FA this year, that's one guy I really wish we could grab

Unless things change, no way the Saints suddenly turn into a club that will pay big bucks for high profile FAs like Reggie Wayne. He'd be a great pick up though. I wish they would try to get rid of Horn as well. He's going nowhere fast.

I'd hope they would grab a WR in the draft like Sinorice Moss or Skyler Green.

I really believe if Stinchcomb comes back strong and Bentley stays with 1 more OG/C we will be OK and we can conentrate on the defense like we should have along time ago.

RE: Re: RE: WHO DO THE SAINTS CUT, RELEASE, OR TRADE IN OFFS

Bentley is fine at center.

We need a DT and two LBs, and NOW. It is the same as last year.

A CB would be nice, but I think that is a luxury at this point.

Of course, everyone thinks we need a QB, and, drafting where we do, not selecting a QB would appear foolish. We haven't seen A-Mac play yet, and last year many thought he was the next coming. I think we do take a QB in the 1st, but I don't see that as a necessity (as usual). We have Brooks and MacPherson right now. Neither makes my eyes light up, but with an improved defense, it is hard to say how much better we'll be.

The O-Line definitely needs something. I'm not sure that it is new players. Holland, Bentley, Brown, Mayberry, and Jacox are solid. Gandy is just getting too old, and, as I recall, he has a steep contract price this year. I say, replace him.

Also, I think D. Howard is gone. I'm on board with the Horn point, he may be gone. However, the man is a firestarter, and that can be good, if handled correctly.

get bentley back to G and a 3 pt. stance. That is what cleveland is saying the would do. Look at the injuries he has and they are from the stance a center is in. Get a C through FA and the draft the only one that looked really good was Nick Mangold and his stock after the senior bowl may have him in the late 1st round. See what happens at the combine. Why is every one so sold on Mayberry for the money he gets. He is a zone blocker. he can not run for an entire quarter much less a game. Holland kept him off the field after he got back from injury anyways. Trade gandy maybe houston or detriot will take him. that or we draft a lefty QB so that will not be his blind side.
Trade Stallworth is a yes. He and Henderson are alike. 75% catch and 25% drops. I am being nice here. Horns contract makes it tuff so he will be back the team does go the way Joe goes. Transition Howard? nah injuries may scare to many off for the $$. Maybe worth a try. 50/50. Package boo and any of the above with picks and get up higher on the board on draft day. gets a thumbs up from me.
Stinchcomb Holland C(?) Bentley Brown
Draft LOT D'Brickashaw Ferguson or Daryn Colledge FA usually cost to much
FA a C or draft Nick Mangold, Greg Eslinger or Jason Spitz

I think Jay bellamy should be traded, and move Dwight Smith to SS and give Bullocks the job at Fs

I don't know but...I have personally never been impressed with Ernie Conwell since he became a Saint. If he is not dropping passes he is injured. You think he would be worth something as a trade? I really did like Hilton this year.
