Here is an excerpt from the latest Peter King article. The first part is a statement by a reader. The part in italics is Peter's response.

NEFARIOUS DOINGS WITH THE SAINTS. From Mark of San Antonio: "The NFL is not doing what they are doing in New Orleans out of the goodness of their hearts, or for the benefit of Mr. Benson. I agree with you that they are setting up N.O. to fail, but I'll take it a step further: They will convince Benson to sell to the group in L.A. They have already put strings on the $20 million for the Superdome refit. If it doesn't work for the Saints, that $20 million must be applied to the lease buyout. The Saints will be in Los Angeles for the 2008 season. Book it.''

Good logic there, Mark. And I'm afraid you might be right.

"3. I think I wonder what other owners think about the NFL bending over so far backwards to help Tom Benson. Here's an owner with one foot out of the state, yet Paul Tagliabue will make another trip to New Orleans in the coming days, in part, to help push seats and luxury suites. Two thoughts: The NFL can say of the Saints' poor attendance this fall: Hey, we tried. The community can't support the team anymore. And two, what a lucky man Benson is to have a league doing all this work for him."

Peter must have been listening to me. I have been saying that very thing. We got to beat that crap in the head and sell out the dome. Give them NO reason to leave. If they then leave anyway, we will all know, as will everyone else, that was the plan all along.
