this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If he is going to be cut, is it going to be by today? Or not necessarily, b/c we're already below the salary cap, and they're gauging any trade interest?...

Question about Aaron Brooks
If he is going to be cut, is it going to be by today? Or not necessarily, b/c we're already below the salary cap, and they're gauging any trade interest?

RE: Question about Aaron Brooks
Its all speculation at this point db. Payon and Loomis have the last word and so far...the word is mum.

I would guess they were waiting on this whole CBA mess to go one way or another, and wanting to gauge trade interest. He is the only former starting QB who will be on the market who ISN'T coming off some kind of injury or another. There should be SOME interest. He will be cut or traded at some point, barring a restructuring of his deal, which I am personally hoping does not happen, cause it means they will have been fooled into giving this clown another shot. And I will tell you what, you wanna see casual fans tune the Saints out int he dome next year, have Aaron Brooks be announced as your starter again. Yuck.

I think the deadline is March 3, so by 5pm tomorrow (or whatever the last possible minute is) he'll be on his way. There's going to be too many free agents out there soon to commit another 3 years to this money pit.

Same-old Brooks or disgruntled Brooks, possibly losing his job to Boumann in training camp? ..I personally don't see any other option for Payton but to cut him, being tomorrow or June 1st... he may keep him until June 1st because of the draft as to not make the Saints look desperate for a QB, or maybe is better for the cap... ..but being tomorrow or June 1st, fumbles has GOT to go |

Bouman needs to go too, if not first! I really don't want him to be given another chance either

The cut deadline most people are talking about is the 3/2 11pm deadline to get you team in compliance with the salary cap. Since the Saints are under and don't have to pay Brooks until 6/1 don't look for him to be cut anytime soon. He's still draft day trade bait and the longer Payton keeps him the rolls the more it looks (to other teams) like he may stay.
He'll only get cut prior to the draft IF we pick up a major talent and then need a little extra cap room. |

What pisses me off is Haz didn"t give AMAC a chance last seasons. who knows, maybe we don"t need to draft a QB in the first round, the starter maybe sitting on the bench behind two clowns.

I mentioned the same thing in another thread. All this talk about Leinart, Cutler, Young and stuff...what about AMAC? What IF we already have someone with the tools for success? If my memory serves me right..AMAC got lots and lots of praise for his skills. His little college problems caused him to be drafted so low.
