RE: Off-season Prioririty Number One

Center: Rudy niswanger...3rd Round, He'll be there
Guard: Sign Glover, released from Cowboys
DT: Draft 2nd Round
OLB Sign free Agent, Seau will be on the market, so will Lavar Arrington

patdog 03-03-2006 12:07 PM

signing a center and a veteran QB to backup young or whoever is prioririty 1#. and man I hate to thank AB being that vet backing up a rookie Qb.

Sorry to mess up your dream, but Glover is a DT, not a guard. Next plan?

glover is a DT... ...sign him any way

..the actual #1 priority is not signing a specific player, but to change the attitude of the football team, removing any trace of Jim Haslett and his band of merry men.. that of course includes removing the last of the bad apples...

Euphoria 03-03-2006 05:39 PM

Well I think the attitude has already been address by canning Haslett and bringing in a new coach and staff. There next step is evaluating what the team has and can work with as a staff and what can they do via Draft at this point and FA to address the changes in personell. I think they are in evaluation mode now. Combine aside now see what the team has and more evaluation when Pro days start.

From what I can tell so far, I think they are going about this wrong... I think coming into the position and looking at this team you should already know that you have to look at this as a "rebuilding", I sense that what is going on in looking how to better the team. Normally you take the approach that 'everyone is gone unless you show us something, anyone is up for trade and or here are your walking papers'. You put this out there so teams know that players are up for trade ect. Granted all this can change come Monday morning but I am not getting a good feeling on the future of the team as wins go... I am settling in for more mediocre seasons at best.

..yep. Payton just pulled out his magic "Haslett atitude be-gone" wand, wiped off in seconds what took 5 years to create..

The team's No. 1 priority should be signing Drew Brees. If they can bring him in, the quarterback position would be taken care of for nearly a decade if not more. I would love to see such an accurate quarterback in black and gold. Now that they actually have a realistic shot at getting him (I never thought that the Chargers would let him go into the free agent market), I will be very disappointed if the Saints don't go after him hard.

SuJaguar00 03-03-2006 11:14 PM

Wheelman I love the evil monkey from Family Guy. I don't think the Saints are going to sign Brees because it is almost a foregone conclusion that the 2nd pick in this year's draft is going to be used on a QB. I do however think that we need to address our mediocre LB core.

hagan714 03-04-2006 09:19 AM

I would love to trade the pick and go defense but a QB looks to be our #1 target. I could live with Matt or Jay. Though Quinn is the one that would make me the happiest next year. VY is still a Big ? to me.

If the draft plays out to be a Ferguson, AJ or even a Davis in round 1 for the saints I see AB or a Vet FA signing a 3 year deal and Payton drafting a sleeper QB as a pet project in 4 or 5 to compete with Amac. After all he is a QB Guru, right. Then I see alot of G, OT, DT, LB, WR on day one or maybe a RB.

FA will be cheaper positions are first C,G,DT,MLB.
The OL is now a big weakness that FA can address. Signing a G and C would go along way to fixing the problem. Next is the need for SOLB and a MLB. Then a QB. Too many question around Bress for me right now to pay him AB money for the year. Schawb is still my pick if the Falcons really would give him up for a #2. He is worth pick 34. Who knows maybe AB to Falcons and a round 5 pick.
