Rumors according to foxsports.com TODAY'S RUMORS: Lions may take Newman ProSportsDaily.com Apr. 25, 2003 11:07 a.m. Four NFL stories you must read for Friday, April 25, 2003: Lions may be eyeing Newman Dallas Morning News The Morning News's Jean-Jacques Taylor reports that the Cowboys could be in danger of losing Kansas State cornerback Terence Newman to the Lions. Although the Lions are thought to have settled on Michigan State receiver Charles Rogers, there is a chance that they may reverse course and use the the No. 2 pick to grab Newman instead. In that case, look for the Cowboys to deal the No. 5 pick to the Saints or Jets. Jaguars may dump Brunell for Leftwich Jacksonville Times-Union Mark Brunell may be packing his bags if the Jaguars draft Byron Leftwich. The Times-Union's Vito Stellino reports that the Jaguars are rumored to be interested in selecting Leftwich with the No. 8 pick. If they do so, their next move may be to trade Brunell and let David Garrard and Leftwich fight for the starting job. To land QB, Ravens may move up or down Baltimore Sun The Sun's Jamison Hensley reports that Baltimore may be on the move in the draft. If the Ravens decide to draft a QB, they are expected to either trade up and select Byron Leftwich, or trade down and grab Kyle Boller. Potential trading partners include the Patriots, Jets, Chiefs and Cowboys. McGahee could be coming to New England Boston Globe Although the Eagles, Texans, Raiders and Titans have all been eyeing Willis McGahee, the team that has shown the most interest in him has been the Patriots. The Globe's Nick Cafardo reports that the Patriots were the only team to work McGahee out individually and that there is a chance that they'll trade down in the first round and pick him. The Rumors
That\'s BS positioning, on the part of the Lions, to see what offers they could get for the #2. If they were really that interested in Newman, it would have been known by now.
