Horn had 1340 yards in 2000 and made the pro bowl, which was his second best season by 59 yards. Blake gave him most of those yards as he played the first 11 games. Please you're embarassing yourself. |

How are you comparing Saints QBs to Chargers QBs???? You are too simple. I'm thinking Drew Brees passing up Dan Fouts would take more than the 5 years it took Brooks to pass up Manning and Everett. Fouts threw for nearly 42,000 yards, and Brooks won't even see half of that. |

It's time to move on. I hope Brooks lands somewhere and does well. I also hope that Brees comes back from his injuries and continues to perform at the same level he has in 2004-2005. Brooks had his chances in New Orleans. He could have earned the last $14 million of his contract be cutting down turnovers and improving his completion percentage. He also more improtantly could have kept his yap shut like I've called him to do over the last 2 years. SFIAH |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Aaron Brooks will kill our Saints!
if brooks was any good as a starter we would have been able to trade him

The same could be said for Brooks. The Saints weren't going to pay him the last $14 million. Brooks is only a $2 million cap hit for the next two years. His contract was upside down. So the only options were renegotiate or release. Now teams can bring in Brooks on their terms. They can do a small signing bonus plus an option bonus like we did with Brees. Get Brooks in cheap. If he works out then great. If not then cut him lose again with a small cap hit. I'm not crying for Brooks. He pocketed $22 million of his $36 million contract. He had his chances to secure the other $14 million. He's going to get probably another $2-$3 million when he signs with his next team and possibly an option bonus that's bigger next year. Make no mistake that cutting Brooks loose was a money decision. As much as most of you despise the guy, if his cap hit was only $1.5 million or so next year, the Saints would not have released him. SFIAH |
Sheesh, I dunno why any of you gave this guy the time of day. I saw he signed up today, and after the first page could see all he wanted to do was stir up doodoo. Obviously he ain't a fan of the Saints team. Definitely deserves a little attention form the mods. Am ignore button need fo sho.

I have to agree with SFIAH on this one. The fact that we couldn't trade Brooks really isn't much of a sign regarding his ability (or ability to start elsewhere). I too wish him all the best, so long as he isn't playing us (in which case I permit him to beat us with his eyes... a lot). That said, what is a sign of his ability was that inept/incompetent year he put up for us last year; every year before that, he was on the improve, then he went to shiznit.

um the fact that according to loomis they didn't get any calls on him being traded is in my opinion an absolute example of what the league thinks of him and then if you couple that with the fact that noone has signed him yet does matter. if he was such a commodity whyb hasn't anyone looked to him as a starter. i don't think t.o. is arguable at this time because the nfl knew he was going to be released. i would say the same about arron but i wouldn't say it was known at first. either way i don't see him being discussed in the same way as brees or even pepper. that is my opinion but that doesn't mean i think you are wrong saints or kool because truthfully you can't say that that is an absolute judgment of talent. it depends on other factors. so i guess really i agree with you guys but not in the brooks case
|
Brooks is gone and someone needs to let it go. I don't care who he plays for if he played like he did the last few years for us I would love to play against him every Sunday. He can throw backwards ya know. What skills.
|
GoldRush, I suppose I'll agree to a certain extent. It is arguable that there were areas of improvement post 2003, but not leaps and bounds. However, I'm not all that interested in defending the claim; it seems we agree in principal his on field play is sufficient to display why we don't want to keep him any longer.
spk, gotcha. In general, trade offers and related measures of ability rely heavily on factors other that a players ability (as you note). As a point of note, Edge and Alexander barely got a snif in FA last year, and those are clearly quality players. Take into account Brooks salary, and it isn't hard to see why no one would make an offer. I guess, I just don't see a need to make an exception for Brooks - the no trade offers are a dubious measure of his inability, especially compared to his inability on the field last year. |
that is a good point kool real good point

Goldrush, you brought up some really good facts, stats that I enjoyed reading, but fatz still doesn't understand any of it, he's hopeless and a joker, I can't believe I went back and forth with him earlier today, makes me think I have nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon.
He's noway a Saints fan, he's a guy who loves to push other people's button, that's all this guy is about, period. Again, good stuff today Goldrush, hell, you tried your best. Wasn't he banned ? |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Aaron Br
ltf the guy has been banned over and over and he just keeps coming back. i don't even get it

How about using his IP address to ban him for good?

i am hoping that what brees did the last two years will continue with us. he seems like a tough player. nothing great just competitive. i love those types
|
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE:
What gets me excited is that Brees will have more weapons in Horn, Stallworth and Henderson who will only get better, question is, can we protect him from the backside with where we stand with our OL, I say no as of right now but hoping our OL will be tweaked when the new season starts

Protection?
Can Brees alone reduce the number of dropped passes? Time will tell. AB torches us? With the DB's we got? upgrade is needed yes but first lets stop the run. |
