Who do you root for BTW? Quote:
It's time to move on. I hope Brooks lands somewhere and does well. I also hope that Brees comes back from his injuries and continues to perform at the same level he has in 2004-2005. Brooks had his chances in New Orleans. He could have earned the last $14 million of his contract be cutting down turnovers and improving his completion percentage. He also more improtantly could have kept his yap shut like I've called him to do over the last 2 years. SFIAH |

if brooks was any good as a starter we would have been able to trade him

The same could be said for Brooks. The Saints weren't going to pay him the last $14 million. Brooks is only a $2 million cap hit for the next two years. His contract was upside down. So the only options were renegotiate or release. Now teams can bring in Brooks on their terms. They can do a small signing bonus plus an option bonus like we did with Brees. Get Brooks in cheap. If he works out then great. If not then cut him lose again with a small cap hit. I'm not crying for Brooks. He pocketed $22 million of his $36 million contract. He had his chances to secure the other $14 million. He's going to get probably another $2-$3 million when he signs with his next team and possibly an option bonus that's bigger next year. Make no mistake that cutting Brooks loose was a money decision. As much as most of you despise the guy, if his cap hit was only $1.5 million or so next year, the Saints would not have released him. Sheesh, I dunno why any of you gave this guy the time of day. I saw he signed up today, and after the first page could see all he wanted to do was stir up doodoo. Obviously he ain't a fan of the Saints team. Definitely deserves a little attention form the mods. Am ignore button need fo sho.
