this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I agree with blackandblue, we can't afford to cut Gandy, he's a good insurance to have, he's not a terrible starter if needed....

RE: Re: RE: D
i agree euphoria... i would also like to see us try to get mangold... he will be a good one and he is from OSU just like bentley... with the rumored trade with the jets if they make the deal with seattle... we could be looking at getting jets #4 and seattles #31 would be nice.... 3 of the first 34 picks... id say thats pretty good in any year to pick up some talented players especially in this draft friendly year

Just a question. Doesn't 3 of the first 34 picks equal a lot of money? You know ole Tommy boy has a pending limit.

I'd pas son D'Brick, especially if we trade down. Now this isn't to say he isn't a great player, cause he damn sure is. But I think we need to improve that D. And Winston Justice or McNeil might be available in the second round. Or we can sign Ashworth. If he can watch Tom Brady's back, he can watch Brees'. I think if we signed D'Brick, we would be watching him or Jamaal leave in a few years. LTs most almost as much as QBs these days. Get Hawk, or Ngata after a trade down, get Mangold in the second, maybe Eric Winston or Winston Justice with the extra pick if you don't get Ashworth. We don't need to make the most beastly O-line possible, cause we actually have a good QB now, and trust me on this, a QB who makes good decisions and gets the ball out on time will do WONDERS for our o-line. We need to stop thinking about this like Brooks is still under center, and Haslett is still the head coach. Hell, look at the Falcons line just from pulling that line coach from Denver. They went to one of the best in the league, and they are a bunch of scrubs. Gotta go D with that first pick IMO.
And like someone else said, Brick pretty much said the same thing as LeCharles, and here we just watched him leave for nothing. |

whodi, Justice is projected as a late first rounder as is McNeil. So unless we trade with the Jets for say their first and Atlanta's at 15, THEN trade 15 for Denver's two late 1sts, there isn't much chance of either of those OL players being available. Then again IF we do make a blockbuster trade like above, we can go #4-D, #22-OL, #29-D, #34-OL, and still get a beastly OL and much help to the D.

Either one of those will be good at their positions. None of them are a D'Brickshaw Ferguson, but if they just play with a nasty attitude and get the job done, that would be an upgrade for us.
