this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Saints DT J. Sullivan has the best technique of all the DTs in the draft. He said, his hands are excellent and he goes low to the ground for penetration. Will help considerably the other two DTs....

If Hand is a Saint after June 1, I will be surprised. We can use the money maybe to sign a corner if one is released or needs to be traded, aka Springs from the Seahawks.

Springs would be a great acquisition but I don\'t think any of our DTs will get cut. The new name of the game is rotation. Giving the BELLIES a little rest while continuing to keep the pressure.

Hand will get cut. They\'ll probably try to trade him first, but noone will bite and then they\'ll just cut him. His cap hit this year is as huge as his belly last year. We have 2 or 3 other DTs on the roster, Whitehead could also play in a rotation. Forget about Hand, let\'s just hope Jackson gets in shape.

I agree... Hand\'s only hope is that he gets in great shape and the Saints cut him and then try to resign him to a contract at league minimum. His $5 mill in cap room can be used for MUCH better players. Hell, we could probably sign Chester McGlockton for a smaller hit than that. That\'s a DT swap I\'d take in a heartbeat. An actual shutdown corner or a big play LB would be nice also. I\'m not holding my breath though.

One belly gone and I guess one belly to go. I will miss Norman.

QUOTE OF NOTE: \"I thought Rick Mueller, the scouts, and the interaction with the coaches was outstanding. If you saw the way our board was stacked, they\'re getting taken right off the way we have them stacked. I thought the board - the way it was stacked and what the staff did - was outstanding. Obviously we try to be aggressive in everything we do, gameday, practice and we\'re trying to get better. We\'ll just keep upgrading. We got a lot of young guys on this team. We\'re going to get a few more. We already got one and we\'re going to get a few more in this draft, so as they grow together, I think it\'s going to be a heck of a football team.\" -- Saints Coach Jim Haslett after the selection of Johnathan Sullivan in the first round.
Alright, Jim, I\'ll give you the benefit of the doubt. I hope you feel the same way in August. Alot of newswriters are giving the Saints about a C grade in the draft. |
