Saints | Team makes an offer to Goodwin
Sat, 25 Mar 2006 05:03:37 -0800 The New York Daily News reports the New Orleans Saints have made a two-year contract offer to free agent OL Jonathan Goodwin (Jets) and he is reportedly giving it strong consideration. http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl I guess since they signed Brees then the front office just decided to sign scrubs for the rest of free agency. |

RE: Another Head Scratcher
In fairness, there isn't much left and there weren't many quality guys left after the Brees signing.

Like I said in another post, it's looking like the same old Benson bullsh**. Let's do just enough to get the fans excited so we can sell tickets. Just don't break the bank. It's all about maximizing Benson's profit.

RE: Another Head Scratcher
Look what Curtis Martin has been able to do with him blocking on that line since 2002... I think it would be a good signing. Just because his name isn't Steve Hutchinson or Tom Ashworth doesn't mean the guy can't be solid or good. Anyone that can block for Curtis would definately be welcomed blocking for Deuce in my book.
Did we miss out by focusing on Brees for the majority of the first two weeks... yea probably. But we got the player we set out to get and I think our off season has been going pretty well. |

RE: Another Head Scratcher
Trust I'm not jumping through any hoops right now.. but at least we're doing something. If we were here doing absolutely nothing, we'd have people ranting for days about how we aren't pro-active. Yet when we attempt to anything at all and they aren't "name" player, you still hear the complaints. If anything he would provide good depth to the roster since he's already familiar our OL coach. We just lost Jacox... so doesn't it make sense to go find a guy who can play center/guard? It's not like he's about to the break the bank with us.

Look the guy can play guard and center and he had to have some talent or he wouldn't have been playing for the Jets that long. He may be the person to fill the center position until ManHole is ready.
