you know what i think with the chargers. i think they are doing the same crap that kept manning from wanting to sign with them and that kept rivers from camp for such a long amount of time. they are cheap in my opinion. the dolphins saved face. plain and simple they saved face. does that mean the guy will turn around and absolutely be 100% no it doesn't. i like the way this guy is acting and i like the way he is sure of himself. am i scared, hell yes, but i am excited. damn am i excited for this season. the buzz is out. looking at the board i would think that everyone else is excited too. the draft hasn't even happened and was two or more months away and people were on here discussing strategy. plus there has been a lot of new guys also on here and on here often. these are good times ladies. new coach NEW QB and looks like we are headed in the right direction. i am looking forward to the draft like it is a date for my first time. not my first date. we have things to be excited about. if brees never comes back from the injury it wil be a downer. but if he does then we are in pretty good shape.

I agree SPKB. I'm really excited about this year. Hopefully Brees will have a great season. Hopefully the entire team does well. I'm am a little worried about Brees coming back from surgery, but I would be more worried if AB was QB in New Orleans this season.
My only question, do you still take a QB in the first round????? It could save our a$$es or it could be a waist of a draft pick. No matter what, I'm more excited for this season than I was 3 or 4 months ago. Also, it looks like Brees really wants to be a contributer this year. He did that ad and everything. Looks like a team player to me. Of course, Brees may be a little nervous himself about the fan reaction if he doesn't live up to expectations (hearing of the AB smashing). At least I can be optimistic about this season rather than dread the start of it. |

Wow I can't believe it. A legitimate post regarding concern about Brees' shoulder has more replies about how glad people are not to have Brooks. Brooks is not the issue any more people. He's Oakland's headache or success story not ours. Can we now let the Brooks vs whoever stuff go once and for all? Face the facts, we have Brees now...that can be a great thing if he's protected better than Brooks was. We know his shoulder, although repaired, can't take many hard hits on it before it will affect his play. Lets hope the shoulder is fine by September (I don't care if he doesn't get a bunch of snaps in pre-season just as long as he's getting some work in practice)...lets watch and see what AMAC can do and lets see if we draft a QB somewhere in the later rounds...there are going to be some very good athletes like the QB from Ohio State flying under the radar that might be good to take a look at just in case Brees can't go. But please please please no more discussions about Brooks

normand on taking a qb in the first round man i would love to be able. we have some other wholes to fill though. if we took matt and kept him would i be upset, no. it is tricky with brees of course and we hopefully won't have this opportunity next year to draft someone so high so that makes it even tougher. i hope we fill needs but if we take and keep him i will be ok with that

We've heard in the past month that the Saints will be looking for a backup QB so I would assume that means Bouwoman is gone, along with his 1.5 mill cap hit. If we don't I like Jacobs in the 2nd round of the draft, if we can get an additional 2nd rounder in a trade down. I also would'nt mind Whitehurst in the 4th.

There are a number of QBs they can look at in the draft but wouldn't they threathen AMAC's status with the team? Do you want a rookie backup for Brees? Can they get AMAC ready to be a #2 between now and the beginning of the season? More importantly, what if Brees isn't ready to start the season...can we afford to let Bouman go? I say yes but then again, I think he's absolutely terrible at best. Would you consider bringing in Jeff Blake to back up Brees? What about Kerry Collins, Tommy Maddox, Jamie Martin, Kliff Kingsbury, Senaca Wallace, or even J.T. O'Sullivan

Wouldn't it be horrible irony if we signed Jeff Blake(The huge signing of 2000) and Brees went down in the middle of a terrific season only to have Jeff Blake step in and lead us to our first playoff win since 2001. Oh my GAWD how ironic would that be. I sure hope Brees comes through because I think he is a great guy, and a true leader.
