Sorry I just don't think people have the capacity to be objective sometimes. Minnesota wasn't forced to trade Culpepper. The injury was the only thing that lowered his value. Edge and Alexander, both Pro Bowl RBs were shopped around a couple of years ago for second round picks. Are they worth more, sure but no one was going to give up first round picks for them. This is why I don't see how people can say that Stallworth is worth a second when he hasn't even logged a 1,000 yard season. He has the potential to be worth much more than a second but as of right now his resume' doesn't warrant it. It's wishful thinking. A third would be generous.

Bottom line is given where we drafted him, it's not worth it to trade him at all.

Stallworth may be "about to have his break out year", but he's been on that verge for two years now. I can see why they are talking about shipping him off. Getting a vet. receiver that holds on to it no matter who's throwing and a pick or two is a good thing.

Yet, I say give him this year. SD has a WR named Parker. Who's that? A good backup that had similar numbers to Stallworth and got lots of notice when he had a great #1 in front of him, and Brees slingin' it.

If stallworth can put up the numbers he did with Horn out and Brooks' half-stupid ass throwing it to every one and Wayne Gandy, I think he'll be a building block for us...finally, one for us....

You seriously believe that a 100 million dollar contract had nothing to do with lowering his value? You think Edge and Alexanders contract demands didn't affect compensation either? If you don't "get it", I can't help you. A third is generous... what a joke. Why not just trade him for a 4th to be fair in your books then? How does that sound?

Yeah one more year with a pro bowl QB....if he doesn't improve we gotta cut our losses.

One more thing....Nate Burleson, a 3 year vet, has comparable numbers to Stallworth over his first 3 years in the league, PLUS he had a 1,000 yard season in '04. He was just let go to Seattle for a late 3rd. A second rounder for Stallworth is unrealistic.

My point is they went for second rounders, for whatever reason when they are clearly Pro Bowl players. Now Stallworth has been injured for all but one year of his career....that would affect his trade value a bit too, don't you think? And he has obvious hand issues, and he's a RECIEVER. Now could you explain to me how Stallworth is worth a second rounder again? :roll:

Umm... he wasn't even traded. Compensation for him was determined to be a 3rd rounder... he was a restricted free agent. If Stallworth was a restricted free agent and we tendered him the right amount of money, we'd get a 3rd round pick as compensation too.

If I were Minnesota, I wouldn't have matched that 49 million dollar offer either.

Once again, if we traded away Stallworth, with the salary he's making and from last year's performance... along with his age and potential, I don't think a 2nd round pick is a reach. But hey that's just an opinion from a guy who doesn't have the capacity to be objective... so take it for what it's worth... probably nothing.

Let me ask you something GoldRush, what do you think is fair compensation for Javon Walker?
