We get the #4 and 34th from Jets for 2nd overall, than trade the 4th for the two firsts of Denver. Plus our second rounder......

why a second? Denver gave up about 880 pts in the deal to 15. straight up jets 4,29 then denver 15 and 22.
but there is aprice to pay to go to 4 from two. that price is at least

as for denver
15(1050)22(780)=1830 + 2(292) = 2122-1800= - 322
Remeber you are trading to a club that NEEDS a QB, a possible franchise QB non the less that will put butts in the seats. Denver is asking you trade out of the top 5 much less the top 10. So a 2 (in Denvers case it will be a low pick)in 2007 would have to be included. That is why draft values change so much within each round.
So in the end you would get 15,22,29,35,61 in best case. Or 15,22,29,71,92 but remeber you have passed on alot of talent and now have a major cap situation if you use the picks.

The 29th selection, Marlin Jackson of the Indianapolis Colts, got a $4.38 million signing bonus as part of a five-year, $7 million package. #22 Mark Clayton's overall package is worth $8.2 million, though incentives and escalator clauses could push the total value to $11 million, according to a league source. Clayton, the 22nd overall pick, will receive close to $6 million in guaranteed money.

Just from those numbers for 15, 22, and 29= $23.5mil vs. $34mil for #2

More evidence of the wisdom of trading down IMO.

the only thing we pass on is the #4 pick in that deal which would net us a possible starter.
with those 3 picks and our 2nd, i think we could fill all holes if they panned out....it would be nice to have those picks................smitty

thanks for the cap numbers. I thought they would run about 15% higher than the #2. but it appears i am wrong. great.

but I would like to see denver getting a higher pick in the top 10 then trade it to us with the 2. Just 2 much talent in the top 10 to pass up. If denver could get a pick between 5-10 before the draft I would pass on the second #1. GB would be Perfect for denver.

from what i read was that denver was trying to trade their picks because they couldn't afford the money. like i said that is what i read and i read that like about a month a go
