Saints | Payton discusses backup quarterback situation
Sat, 8 Apr 2006 15:34:27 -0700

NewOrleansSaints.com reports New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was asked at the team's minicamp Saturday, April 8, about his backup quarterback situation and he replied, "Well, that's a good question. I think that the purpose for this camp is to get a chance to give these two guys a lot of reps...you know, I said this in the beginning: all of these guys we're evaluating and clearly we're evaluating Todd (Bouman) and Adrian (McPherson) so they're getting a lot of reps. We're halfway into this camp, we've got a practice this afternoon, another one tomorrow, and there are guys we've got to hone in on and make decisions in regards to where we think they are, and that's important."

he's working on it man, he's working on it............................smitty

Uh i think he's talking about Ryan Fitzpatrick, not Jamie Martin. And he went to Harvard, so yeah I guess that's a really "smart" school.

Hey, if Adrian steps up and takes over the #2 spot, how would you guys feel about Bouman being #3?

AMac definitely will need another year of development before being considered a #2. I will be disappointed if Bouman is still there by the start of the season. I do not think he will though. You wouldn't hear other names mentioned already if they were sold on him. Payton being a QB coach extraordinaire I will trust his judgement on whatever veteran is brought in. From the poll we had last week it seemed Fiedler, Maddox, and Other were the favorites here.
