Saints INTERESTED Jamie Martin
Martin waiting in the wings
<Apr. 7> While they wait for Joey Harrington's fate to be decided, the Bengals and Dolphins continue to talk with Martin's agent, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Both teams view Martin as a potential backup option if they're unable to land Harrington. "It's looking like which ever team doesn't land Harrington is going to go after Jamie," a league source told the Palm Beach Post. "He's just waiting to see what happens." The Saints have also shown interest in Martin, a 12-year veteran who started a career-high five games for St. Louis last season. The 36-year-old has played for five teams in his career. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors |

RE: Saints INTERESTED Jamie Martin
2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 62 | Key Alert: A Full Name: Jamie Blane Martin Born: February 8, 1970 Orange, CA Height: 6-2 Weight: 205 lbs. Age: 36 Pos: QB Experience: 11 years College: Weber State Comment: Can adjust to the blitz and get rid of the ball quickly. He understands his role as a reserve, he prepares for every game as if he is going to play and he would be an excellent mentor for a younger, inexperienced quarterback. Martin shows good touch in the short-to-intermediate passing game and he does a nice job of leading his receivers. He has decent overall mechanics, can set up quickly and has good feet. Arm strength is adequate but certainly not elite. Has trouble pushing the ball across the hash marks and lacks the velocity to be an effective downfield passer. He has marginal athletic ability, he is not a threat to run when protection breaks down and he does not have the mobility to create second chances in the pocket. |
