What if....a BIG what if....but What if?

what if the texans do the unthinkable and pass up on bush...what do the saints do?

draft him?
use him as trade bait?

before a bunch of you guy start jumping on me...i know this has less than a 2% chance of happening, but it is worth debating.

If Reggie Bush is available at 2, then that pick immediately gains more value which is good for the Saints. If the Saints choose not to trade the pick, then take Reggie Bush without a doubt. McAllister and Bennett both have a history of injuries and Bush can be used as a slot receiver or a return man.

Float the pick for 14 minutes and if there is no adequate takers pick Bush.

good question....I would pass on Bush, even if he's available. Before yall jump on me here me out....If the saints have 3 capable backs (stecker, duece, and bennett) that have had success in the NFL. I know none of them are very durable back, but you have an option to bring Antwain Smith or Anthony Thomas back as a part of a rotation. Plus we've seen with our DE's that investing too much money at one position, when we have so many other needs is not gonna do you any good...Bush is an one in a blue moon player, but is Bush going to stop Warrick Dunn on a 4th and 1 in the 4th quarter of a close game.....NO!

JimBone 04-12-2006 03:08 PM

Well, Ferguson wont stop anyone on 4th and 1 either, but he makes sense in the draft. All of our backs last year averaged less than 4 yards per carry. Bush gives you a dimension that no one on our team has, no linebacker can cover him out of the backfield, no safety can cover him in the slot. Lets face it, if our offense doesnt get better, there wont be any situations where we have to stop anyone on 4th and 1 in a close game because we wont be in any close games.

you gotta point, but there are other players with Bush's versitility. Players like Michael Robinson, and Reggie Mcneal, can be that jack of all trade player.

hagan714 04-12-2006 03:23 PM

take him. no brainer. trade players for 2 and 3 asap. even think about trading out of 34 to get more picks. What an up grade for the offense.

If I were them, I'd trade down. Bush is a luxury, not a necessity for them. Davis is a very good back and they need a LT. Smart move for them is to trade with the Jets, and take Brick while Jets find there future in Bush.

Yeah, but they can't trade down to #4 to get Ferguson because there's a chance we would take Brick at 2 and then they are screwed. I would take Bush

They could take D'Brick with the #1 pick. Screw the "analysts". Pick who you feel is deserving of that pick.
