this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Just when it appeared the Titans might have their choice of quarterbacks in the NFL Draft, the Saints came marching in. Yesterday the Saints lined up a visit from USC's Matt Leinart for next Wednesday, adding more intrigue to the ...

FO--Brilliant!! (Leinart News)
This is really savvy of Loomis. Got to make the Jets or Titans really want Leinart. Hopefully, we'll bring him in to start talking contract details and really fire up anyone wanting Leinart. |

I just read that myself. I love that!
Just when folks thought we forgot how to bargain...hopefully the Titans and Jets sit up and take notice. Not sure that we didn't already have the fish close to the line, but this should make it a bit easier to hook one. |

Hey I'd rather D'Brick, but if we picked up Leinart anyways I wouldn't be mad. Like I said it's nearly impossible to fudge this one up, especially if they don't trade.

We don't know where this is headed but it's not out of the realm of reality that the Saints still pick Lienart...Brees has the mother of all contracts for next season...even if we keep him, he'll have to restructure next season...no way can they pay him $12 million next year...this Lienart visit might be more about finding out what his salary hopes are and figuring out if they still want him...we all know he was once their top choice before Brees became available

I'm getting the uneasy feeling we may really draft Leinart too....
But in the end I still think it is all smokescreen to get the Jets to move (saw tom mcshay say it so he agrees with me). Brees at 60 mil with 12 mil over 5 years is a bargain next to what Leinart is going to ask for. |

I was all for drafting Leinart before the signing of Brees, because I think he will be a quality NFL QB (it's the whole double chin thing-ala Namath, Montana, & Brady). That said, we did sign a quality QB in free agency, so I think that need has been addressed. We need to draft LB, DT, or OT with our 1st pick, being those are our most glaring needs. That's just one man's perspective, of course.
