Edwards is getting up there in age, but his stats say something different. I think a 2 year deal would definately be worthy. Screw it...take Hawk too.

[quote]Ricky Manning is toast. He got beat out by Ken Lucas AND Chris Gamble for starting spots. He has tried to live off his name since the playoffs when they went to the Superbowl. If he is anything more than a nikcel, pass. Which means I wouldn't give up more than a 5th or 6th rounder for him.

Agreed. Plus Edwards is just too old for that money. Let him go to die somewhere else. I want some young talent. We need to build a team to compete in 2-3 years. I think we might get about .500. Maybe 9-7 or 10-6, but realististly we're looking at a year or two.

LOL.....I'm hoping that was a typo on Cheramie's part....If I'm thinking what he meant, then he meant our 2nd round pick for Edwards....at least I hope that is what it was. I wouldn't give up the 2nd pick in the draft for a 33 year old linebacker....no matter how many tackles he had last year...lol

jnormand 04-16-2006 09:09 PM

Maybe not a 2nd pick, but a 2nd or maybe a third rounder. Edwards is really good guys. He had like 149 tackles last year....I wouldn't say that the guy is on his last leg yet. He's is worth a 2 or 3 year deal and he is probably a better bet then Simmons. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the Saints got Simmons, but Edwards would be a great pick up too.

Edwards for 2-3 years, or Hawk for 10? Not even a choice IMO. Hawk 10 times out of 10. Edwards is good and all, but he played in a 3-4, and is 33. Again, he may have a couple good years left, but not as many as Hawk has ahead of him. If it allowed us to move down and get a DT, I could be tempted, as long as he didn't command a high salary, and we didn't have to give up a lot to get him. If we got a third from somewhere, I could see it. But other than that, pass. Take Hawk.

I totally agree Whodi. I don't think the Saints should trade a 2nd overall pick....I was saying a 2nd round or maybe a third rounder. I think having a proven veteran is probably better for the short term, but I think Hawk would be the wiser choice for obvious reasons.

Also, I forgot about the fact that Edwards played in a 3-4. That probably wouldn't help.

I really hope the Saints draft Hawk, we really need LB help.

I know we are all glad we didn't sign Manning Jr. now. This dude is a punk, Facing assault charges for beating some guy up in a Denny's in Cali.

yeah he was a little ***** when he played for the baby bears(ucla)..had a couple of my homeboys who met him say that he was "tryin ta thug".....
glad we passed ........period.
