Reggie Bush not a lock for number 1 ?

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports there is now legitimate reason, for the first time, to think that USC RB Reggie Bush is not going to be wind up with the Houston Texans, the team that currently holds the No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick. This does not come from one source or from one team. This comes from multiple sources, from across the league, without any agenda to push. As of Monday, April 17, the Texans had not had any contract discussions with Bush and his representatives. When Bush was in Houston, a certain segment of the organization never introduced itself to the running back. The Texans know they have a dependable running back and kick return man, the two spots Bush fills. A person in the Bush camp said Monday, "Do I have a feeling that Reggie is going to Houston? No, I have a feeling that he's not."

That throws more of a monkey wrench into the draft than the Saints quagmire. All bets are off if Houston decides to trade down. They need o-linemen more than they need another rb. Watch for mushroom cloud.

I could actually see NYJets trading up to #1 to pick Bush. Sure, everyone says they need a QB, but a RB of that caliber doesn't come around often and Curtis Martin isn't getting any younger.

That helps the Saints if Bush falls to number 2. Green Bay and the Jets would be more open to trading with us to get Bush. Bush adds value to the pick and opens up more options. Hell, even San Fran would jump into the picture. That would be great for the Saints if Bush and the QB's were still on the board at 2.

I posed this scenario a while back that IF Bush was there at #2, How can we not draft him?

Deuce has not been healthy in a while, Lewis hasn't been either. A kick Returner and RB of that caliber would be pretty hard to pass up?

I am all for trading the pick and moving down a few to get HAWK, But if Bush is there I say take him.
For all the talk of what our pick is worth, What we could get, what if this, What if that, FORGET it, Take Bush and be HAPPY about it!

JENGA....I Win!

I am not opposed to taking Bush either but you have to ask yourself, does he fill a glaring need? No. Duece just got his big payday, and Bennett is the best backup we have had in years. If we couldnt get value for the pick then yes, take him...all i was saying was that if the Saints to move down to take the player they wanted, then the chances of them getting value for that pick goes up significantly if Bush is available.

Players, just like money, are sometimes fungible. Take Bush, deal Deuce. A 2nd rounder or a top 10 LB would be worth it.
