Juicy Trade Talk
This has been an exciting offseason. I actually have anticipation rather than dread heading into the draft. I scout a lot of sites out to ferret info. I want to pass on a link here that has some very relevant trade possibilities. It is just message board chatter but look for the posts by Bongo 59. He claims to be a consultant to 4 NFL teams. People on that board vouch for him being legit in that he has previously broken info long before it appeared on any wires. It is a 41 page thread so scan past the crap to his comments and answers.
The main point is that Leinart's agent Condon is trying to stack the draft in picks 2-7. At least get ML to the #2 spot like he did with Manning-Rivers. Oakland wants Leinart at pick #2 and is willing to pay the top price to get it. The Saints do not want to drop any lower than #4 however. So a multi-team trade is in the works: Saints-Jets-Raiders and possibily Titans. I am a Hawk fan but from the sound of this it looks like Green Bay at #5 is his most probable destination. Jerry Porter's name is also mentioned in the trade possibilities. Also noteworthy is the claim that if Houston did not pick Bush SF has told Loomis already that they would give both this year's first rounders, their second round pick and the 2007 3rd rd selection. Enjoy- http://www.jetsinsider.net/forums/sh...5&page=1&pp=20 As said, it is just chatter but some damn interesting chatter. Take it for what it is |

I reviewed the math concerning the draft pick values. Here's what would work most precisely for a NO/NYJ deal. And if you don't think teams adhere to the pick value chart check the recent 49ers-Broncos trade, the math is exact for that deal.
SAINTS trade #2, 2600pts and #99 104 pts (4th rd)- 2704pt total JETS trade #4, 1800pts, #29 640pts, #71 235pts (3rd rd) and #173 22.2pts (6th rd) - 2697.2pt total That gets within 2.8 pts on a mega 5400 pt trade. I don't care much what happens after that with the Jets-Raiders. Let Al Davis go nuts ala Ditka over Leinart. PS tho- If Jerry Porter is indeed being shopped I think he would be a great addition here. He is only in the 2nd year of a new 5yr deal. Could ya imagine Stallworth or Joe if shipped to Oakland... "Damn, I thought I got away from that wild bullet throwing %#@*$!" LOL |

I hope this doesn't mean that the saints might get Jerry Porter. Why lose Stallworth or Horn for this guy. He hasn't done much in oakland, has he? I'd rather stick with Dante than trade for Porter, I dont think that Joe would go in this trade because that leaves us with 2 number 2 recievers (Stallworth/Porter) and oakland ends up with 2 number 1 recievers (Horn/Moss). Doesnt seem right to me.

Brees should have Donte look a lot better this year and might really help Porter too. |

The Saints get D'Brick and the Jets get Mario. Simplified: 1. Jets trade #4 and #103 to the Saints for #2. 2. The Raiders trade #7, #38, and #69 to the Jets for #2. 3. Raiders draft Leinart at #2. 4. Saints draft Super Mario at #4. 5. Jets draft Brick at #7. 6. Jets trade Brick to Saints for Super Mario. If the 49ers draft Brick, the whole plan gets messed up and the Jets walk away with a steal. They would choose from Davis, Cutler, Ngata, whoever |

So based on how much value they place in certain players, they could ask for more than simple chart value. Like, say Bush fell to two. Do you think he is worth the same as every other number two who has gone in the NFL draft? I don't. I think he'd be worth quite a bit more. So yeah, you can look at it value chart wise and say " well, it fits" but that doesn't necessarily make it a good deal.
