This is a no brainer. We NEEEEED LB's. Period! If we can trade down and get some picks....GREAT! For the most part.....whatever happens....we need a guy like HAWK on our D. I think this draft should pretty much focus on LB's, OL's, and maybe a WR or DE.

Uhmm... Most NFL team's talent scouts have A.J. Hawk has the top defensive player in this draft. They also claim that he is the only "sure thing" on defense in this year's draft. Some (like Tennessee's college scout) have gone as far as to say that his name will one day be enshrined in Canton at the Hall of Fame.

"Super Mario", on the other hand, is conceived by most scouts to be a hit or miss talent with great physical attributes. :?

I don't know about you guys, but I think I'd go with the guy most NFL team scouts say is the "sure thing". Not the guy Mel Kiper all of a sudden got a hard on far at the end of the college season because he has similar physical attributes to Julius Peppers.

These are Hawk's Pro Day workouts at Ohio State. If I'm not mistaken, those times were on grass at that.

March 9, 2006

(11:30 pm) 100 scouts and coaches turned out for the Ohio State pro day. Bill Cowher, Lovie Smith, Tom Coughlin, Romeo Crennel, Matt Millen, Ted Thompson, and Terry Bradway were some of the coaches and GMs who were there. Wide receiver Santonio Holmes was timed between 4.29 and 4.35 in the 40-yard dash. Donte Whitner run between 4.28 and 4.37. Bobby Carpenter ran the 40-yard dash in the high-4.5 to low-4.6-second range. A.J. Hawk clocked in the 4.38-4.40 range for his 40.
But, don't take my word for it. Here's the link:

I'll say this again: WE-DO-NOT-NEED-A-DEFENSIVE-END!!!!!!. A defensive tackle...yes. Defensive end...NO! We already have two good ones. Besides that, I would not want to waste our 1st round pick on a "hit or miss" player that is known for taking plays off. Remember Jonathon Sullivan? Huge hit or miss. We all know how that turned out. The only people earning dividends off of the Saints drafting "Sully" are the eateries in New Orleans. :D

#2--The Immortal Mario Williams

Trade Charles Grant to the Packers for #5.

#5--Aloysius Javon Hawk

Everyone is happy down in Saints land.

TheDeuce 04-26-2006 02:21 PM

BMG, hahahaha that's ridiculous.

But gandhi is right here. We just don't need a DE. We do, however, need a LB. Besides, Mario is so inconsistent, that I don't see how we can pass up the safest pick in the draft with Hawk.

jnormand 04-26-2006 03:41 PM

I'll admit, Grant didn't have a "steller" year last season. But to trade him away and draft Williams....um..no. Grant is a good DE and we don't need another one. Smith and Grant are very good, no need to waste a 1st round pick on a player that isn't a need.

Dhatboi, sorry bro...IMO it's a waste of a pick.
